The Association held its first meeting last week, and has many upcoming fundraisers planned. The MPA, (Parents Associa- tion) is made up of all parents who have a child in the music program at Port Perry High School. The MPA holds fundraisers to raise money for music equip- ment and to help subsidize the cost of busing, competitions, and special trips the students take partin. Because fees for music com- petitions are astronomical, the sic department. An invitation alone to MusicFest Canada, would result in close to $1,000 per student to participate. The Association holds events such as the citrus fruit sale, which raised $7,000 last year, and an indoor yard sale held at the high school.
