1st Cubs Port Perry Cub News 1st Port Perry Cubs with the co- operation of the weather were able to hold their second meeting of the year outside. The meeting was opened by Hathi, the gray elephant taking the Grand Howl. Kaa the python asked the boys to join together and form a long snake. They slithered around the trees and each other eventually coiling around Hathi who was trying to light a campfire. He nervously succeeded on his second try. Kaa could see Hathi was having trouble with the fire so he asked the boys to concentrate and before too long the fire was crackling. Raksha the Mother Wolf led the boys in songs and a story was helped out by Bagheera the pan- ther. The boys later enjoyed hot chocolate served by one of the group mothers. The property owner was happy the next morn- ing because there was no trace of 20 young wolves, the mother wolf, 3 beavers, elephant, snake and panther having been there. Akela the old wolf and Mang the bat were absent from the meeting because they were at work. Who are these people besides all being parents? They usually work as a doctor, in a car factory, in a trust company, at a railway, as a marketing consultant and in a grocery store. If you are interested in being part of the jungle book and also part of the Wolf Cub Program come out and see us at our meetings Monday evenings 6:30 - 8:00 at the Church of the Ascen- sion. At this weeks meeting Bagheera will be invested along with 9 new chums who are ready to be new young wolves.
