Commissioner of Planning he must undergo frequent blood transfusions, and must transport his oxygen tank eve- rywhere he goes. One day a local artist, Marta Gill had him follow step-by- step verbal instructions using watercolours. She described the results as "amazing". Timmy had completed an en- tire watercolour scene just by listening and doing. Marta nev- er touched the painting. The results surprised Tim- my's family as well, knowing that he had created this picture alone. One painting wasn't enough for Timmy. All of his four older sisters, Sharon, Mary, Judy and Holly wanted one for them- selves, and his dad, Malcolm re- quested one for Father's Day. Several sessions later (he be- gan painting on May 30 of this year), he has completed seven pictures and wants to do more. Timmy's mother, Lillian All- bright did have an artistic mother in Timmy's grandmoth- er, Allairrien Risebrough, but Marta gave her own reasons for Timmy's success. She explained it is most like- ly Timmy's eagerness to please and his determination to be ex- act and complete that helps him to respond sowell. Timmy has been nominated for the Junior Citizen award, by Mrs. Gill, because of his posi- tive attitude. She said that although Tim- my may not qualify for a "Jun- jor Citizen of the Year", she feels a boy like Timmy should be recognized for his friendli- ness, positive determination and the joy he brings to family and friends. Timmy has attended schools in Port Perry, Ajax, and Ux- bridge until recently when it appeared to be too exhausting for him. Timmy is out-going, affec- tionate, and very co-operative. Many seniors at his dad's lawn bowling say "Timmy made my day with his hug", and he is cer- tainly making people happy with his paintings. For this reason, Marta said it seems he should at least be nominated for a certificate as an Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year. : .
