WIPER TIES na re PR 18 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, September 25, 1990 Honeydale W.I. to attend 80th birthday Nestleton Presbyterian Ladies Aid The September meeting of Nestleton Presbyterian Ladies Aid was chaired by Dorothy Lee on Friday afternoon in the Sunday School Room. Shirley Scott played for the hymn "Bringing in the Sheaves" and the Lords Prayer was repeated in unison. The Devotional from 'Our Dai- ly Bread" was based on II Samuel 12; 1-7 with the explanation read by Winnifred Davison. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Sec'y - Treasurer and adopted, and financial report given. Correspondence was read, and the Presbyterian Church Calendars for 1991 will be ordered, and sold at $3.00 each. Donations for several birthdays were received and collection taken. Cards were signed for two birthdays, and one .""To Cheer You." Dorothy Lee gave a humorous reading; and plans for catering on Sunday for thg Church Anniver- sary were made. Tables were set for the salad luncheon, and the Choral Benediction closed the meeting. Lunch was served by D. Lee and W. Davison and a social time enjoyed. Joyce Taylor ex- pressed the appreciation. _ Thinking of You Very warmest wishes to Irene McKee and Leona Sadler; two fine Nestleton friends; who are patients in Port Perry Communi- ty Memorial Hospital. We trust they well be feeling better soom. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this trying time in their lives. .Nestleton United Church _ Lawrence & Gwendolyn Malcolm were the greeters on a cold, rainy Sunday, Sept. 23rd, 11 a.m.. The attendance was indeed excellent for the service; with un- failing support for our Minister .Rev. Dale Davis. He opened the service with the call to worship and the Doxology. Alovely solo by Kathy Tromans was appreciated. She sang "The Way That He Lives' with organist Gwen accompanying on the instrument. Rev. Trip of Interest Arnold & Jean Williams of Nestleton, have just returned from a two week trip to the East Coast; which was much enjoyed. They toured points of interest in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, staying at motels & hotels. Meals were ex- cellent & accommodations good. A fine relaxing trip for two deser- ving people. Glad to have them back home again; rested and refreshed! Family News Neta Fish, Cadmus, has been stepping high lately. On Thursday evening she was the guest of her family, in the persons of Marlene Bannister, Peterborough, Audrey - Leishman of Reaboro, and Calvin Holland of Cadmus; to a lovely dinner at the Bonfire Restaurant, Lindsay. After the meal they went back to Audrey's for a visit. On Sunday afternoon, Neta en- joyed a visit with her sister-in-law Heather Munro of Sonya; 'and friend Dora Gillson of the Port Perry Villa. Recently, Neta journeyed to Little Britain to visit some cousins she hadn't seen for a while. Clara Wooldridge who is 97 years old and Adele Wooldridge in her 70's were delighted to see her and catch up on family news. Community Church - Caesarea On Sunday, Sept. 23rd, 11 a.m. This is the first service with Rev. Dr. Crawford since May of this year. He has returned from his trip to Australia and England and is enjoying much better health. Dr. Crawford will take the Service at 11 a.m. The Caesarea people are in- debted to Rev. T. Godfrey and his team of workers for all their ex- cellent help during the summer months. Honeydale Women's Institute The first meeting after the sum- mer recess was held Thursday, September 13 at 2 p.m. at the Anglican Church Hall, Port Perry, with Margaret Cornish, Curator, and group in charge of the program. President Mary Cannon brought the meeting to order with the singing of the Ode and repeating the Mary Stewart Col- lect in- unison. Warm words of welcome were extended to the 23 members present, and we are pleased to have two new members - Ardith Sisson and Dorothy Carswell, and trust they will enjoy the work and the fellowship of the members. Cawker of Nestleton, who presented an in- spiring address; dealing with " many current matters of interest; also; a glimpse into the past; a time of reminiscing of Port Perry years ago. After warm applause, he was thanked by Vice President Grace Bassant. After singing the Institute Grace; lovely refreshments were served by the group Marg Cor- nish, Elsie Pogue and Grace Bas- sant. Vera Honey was unable to attend; being a patient in Port Perry Hospital. Our "best wishes" for better health soon to member Vera. Next regular meeting will be held October 4th at 2 p.m. with Madeline Arnott and group in charge. Ladies within the com- munity who would care to attend will be warmly welcomed. International Ploughing Match Roy & Doris Nottingham of Caesarea, attended the Interna- tional Ploughing Match at Paris, Ontario on Sept. 17, and returned home on Sept. 22, after visiting friends in Tillsonburg and Seaforth.
