Letters Important family issues To the Editor: With an election coming up right away, I have noticed that many people have no idea who they are going to vote for. I hope people are getting out of the rut of voting for a par- ty just because their parents or grandparents voted that way, and they are starting to look at the party and the candidates. As for the three major par- ties in Ontarip, I am not im- pressed with the record of any of them. I am not happy with the past Conservative government and have never had much satis- faction from our MPP when I've gone to him for help or to talk about issues important to me. The Liberal Party now in Clean up after dogs To the Editor: Some people in Apple Valley are very ignorant about taking their dogs for walks. They like to take their dogs to the new playground that backs on to 7A Highway west of the bowling alley. When I take my children for a walk through the park we have to dodge dog manure. Even the postal woman who delivers the mail says that it stinks of dog urine and dog manure. There is even dog manure around the mailboxes, which is disgusting. The people who own dogs have the best lawns going because the dogs don't go on their lawns, they go on other peoples. Even the by- law officers don't seem to do anything about it. The playground on Water Street has a sign "No Dogs" allowed, they even ignore that. The people are getting very upset over the dogs. People should have com- mon courtesy to take along a bag to clean up after their dogs. There should be justice done about this, I don't hate dogs, it's the owners' fault. M.J. Flieler Port Perry power has done little to lure me to its side. It has done little about transportation policies except make it more expensive to drive (licencing fee) Also in the last election campaign, Mr. Peterson prom- ised to shut down private abor- . tion clinics. Instead, they legalized these, and made sure there more set up so that these mur- der-centres are more accessible to woman across the province. And we end up paying for them through out O The NDP are so concerned about ge the votes of every minority in the country, I don't think they know which way they are going. None of the parties has anyone willing to stand up for any controversial issue. I was invited to a meeting of the Family Coalition Party. I went first and foremost because this party is against abortion, and funding of these through OHIP. But I was more im- pregsed with the stand on the importance of family in our soci- ety. Aside from taking a stand against abortion, which none of the other parties will do, Family Coalition is against Sunday shopping, will strengthen sup- port for families, give tax reaks if a parent stays home to raise the children, preserves family farms, and respects all people. These and other issues are very important to me and my family. . They are issues I don't see stressed enough at any level of government, and yet some of these are the basic principles that have built this country. Ithink all voters in Ontario should make a list of what is im- portant to them, and then start asking questions before they vote. Please don't stay home and say it's hopeless. If you don't vote, I don't think you have any right to complain. Sincerely, Pauline O'Brien, RR 1, Nestleton.
