However, many people know very little about their home plumbing system and so they call a plumber whenever problems arise. While many plumbing predicaments require the expertise of a professional, others are simple enough to fix yourself. Repairing your own plumbing can save you money - provided you know what you are doing. Your plumbing system is composed of two sets of pipes. One set carries waste material into sewer lines or septic systems. This operates by gravity. The other use water pressure to drive fresh water into your sink, bathtub or toilet. Before making repairs, always remember to turn off the water at the main valve, It's a good idea to locate the main value now -- before there is a problem.
