A AN PAIS ee ---- Thanks for return of wallet To the Editor: An incident two weeks ago has lead me to believe that Port Perry is indeed a friendly and caring town. One day while shopping at the Plaza, I stopped to make a phone call at the phone booth. Somehow, I had left my blue wallet behind. I went on to do my grocery shopping. When I went to pay at the checkout, you can im- agine my horror to find that I couldn't find my wallet. I thought of my previous stops and finally - figured where I must have left it. I ran out to the phone booth, leaving my children at the checkout , only to find it was not there. My heart sank. I returned and sighed that I had lost my wallet. One of the checkout ladies had . overheard me and asked it it was blue, as someone had just turned it in having found it at the phone booth. Well, it was mine and I was relieved. I couldn't thank them enough. Unfortunately, the per- son who found it never left a name with the Valu Mart ladies. To whomever found it and turned it _ in, I thank you with all my heart for being such an honest person. It would have been so easy to have walked away with it, but you didn't. I'd like to thank you in per- son, but since I don't know who you are, I thank you here. You make Port Perry a nicer place to shop. Sincerely, Gloria Eng-Oravec R.R.1, Port Perry Playground equipment welcomed To the Editor: I am writing this letter on behalf of my two little boys, ages five and two. It was with extreme pleasure that we welcomed the arrival of the new "Jungle Gym" at the "Perry Glen Park." We find that it provides a wonderful opportunity for the children of the area to gather together for some good fun and companionship, and caters to children of all ages (even the wee ones). To those responsible we extend our sincere "Thanks." * Mrs. Paula Copithorn: Darryl and Mark Port Perry Kids parade competition not necessary To the Editor: It was truly a joy to see so many children participating in the Festival Days Parade. They were excited and proud of their costumes, but this ended in disap- pointment for the older children when a fun event ended in a com- petition for best costume. Fortunately for me, my son was too young to understand what was taking place but I could feel the tension and was saddened for these children. Why can we not enjoy an event without it ending in a competi- tion? What are we teaching our children by this?
