2 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, July 17, 1990 Even rain couldn't dampen spirits as thousands visit for Festival Day party If the large crowds strollin along Queen Street Friday an Saturday indicate the success of this years Festival Days, there is little doubt it was one of the best yet. Some of the largest crowds in recent memory took advantage of the carnival-like atmosphere along the main street, where dozens of Queen St. merchants, along with food, novelty and clothing vendors offered their products for sale. Chamber officials estimated crowds for the main events, like the Mexican Beach Party, Ba- hamas and Spanish shows, and the Pearly Queen were down a little from last year, but atten- dance was still considered good. 2 SS Unfortunately, the weather- man did not co-operate for the entire weekend and a number of scheduled events were rained-out or cancelled. On Saturday the Craft Mar- ketin Palmer Park closed early due to the inclement weather. It also effected the water ski show and the skate board dem- onstrations being held in the park. On Queen Street the popular Merchants Auction Sale was also cancelled, but will be held atalater date. The weather was also respon- sible for cancelling Sunday's closing events.
