a i il i 34 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, July 10, 1990 Festival Art/Craft show is hot by Donna Kent Put on your sombrero's and come on down to the '"'cinco" an- nual Festival of Arts and Crafts Show in Palmer Park on Satur- day, July 14 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. There will be many new crafters this year along with many "old" favourites. Tara Bailey, daughter of Neil and Elaine Bailey, Blackstock, graduated from Durham College on June 9th,1990 * with a diploma in Engineering - Office Ad- ministration. She was honoured by being named to the Dean's List. Tara has accepted a postion with Ontario Hydro, Head Office, in Toronto. Jeff Byers, son of Jim and Bar- bara Byers of Blackstock graduated from Kemptville Col- lege of Agricultural Technology, May 24, 1990 with a diploma in Field Crops and Livestock Pro- duction and Management. Jeff is presently employed on the family farm. Cathy Elford, daughter of Don and Marg Elford of Port Perry, graduated from Durham College with a diploma in Early Childhood Education. Cathy has accepted a position with Brooklin Day Care Center. Eileen Andrew, Ashburn and Carol Shannon, Burlington are back - both with their own style of ceramics. Barbara Kimball of Oshawa and Irene Duyf, Brooklin are returning with original pot- tery. Jean and Jan Bajer of the Belfry Arts and Crafts Studio, Brunner have enjoyed selling their porcelain pottery, paper mache sculptures and enamelled copper jewellery during our Festival Days for five years. Also for handmade jewellery lovers - Maca-Marcela Lukavsky of Ux- bridge is here and Joan Pauly, Campbellcroft with dainty Petit Valerie Moore, daughter of Doug and Marlene Moore and granddaughter of Hattie Moore, all of Port Perry, graduated from York University, Aldon Campus in Ajax, with a Bachelor of Education degree. Valerie previously graduated from York University with an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology/Law and Society. An Ontario Scholar graduate of Port Perry High School, Valerie has accepted a position with the Durham Board of Education at Lincoln Avenue Public School. Kim Hale daughter of Jim & Helen Hale of Port Perry graduated from Sir Sandford Fleming College on June 16, 1990 with a diploma in Recreation Leadership. Kim received an award from the City of Peter- borough for her academic achievement in the Recreation Leadership program. She is cur- rently employed by the Township of Scugog as Summer Camp Director. Congratulations Kim. Love Mom. Dad Connie and Carol Point jewellery and clocks. Norma Douglas "The Scented Room," Seagrave has a wonder- ful selection of her natural home grown pot pourri fragrances. Leonard and Evelyn Hyde, Oshawa have many types of woodenware items for sale and Andy and Dianne Dulop's Country Treasures, Teeterville do unique Folkart on butternut wood. Orlene Fost, Whitby is new this year with her "'reflective' collec- tion of stained glass sun catchers and mirror decorations. Traudl Holy, Port Perry is returning with handwoven clothing and Marilyn Inch, Port Hope is new with beautiful hand painted silk scarves and accessories. Downsview artist - "darci-que" is coming with limited edition prints, cards, buttons, and colour- - ing books. Her whimsical draw- ings feature mostly children and animals and are delightful. For those who wish to have a little fun with themselves have Peter Kasperski draw a "characature."' You could have your own Dick 'Tracy "mug" shot! Lois Stein will be there with her collection of lapidary - minerals and gem stones, dinosaur bones, specimans and tumbled stones. For those who fancy handmade dolls or Country and Victorian ac- cents, the selection at this Craft Show is fantastic. Sandra Pentland, Seagrave has her col- lection of apple dolls and Marie Pentland, Port Perry has beautiful soft sculpture dolls. Lin- da Hoiko of The Old Toy Trunk has won many awards with her Victorian and country dolls miniature quilts, bunnies etc.. Diane Rooney of Winchester Cottage in Brooklin will be selling dried and silk wreaths, hats, garland and topiary trees along with hand sewn stuffed hearts, rabbits and pillows. Aunt Dan's - Diana White from Scarborough has stuffed animals and toys plus an assortment of decorative items. Stephanie Kasperski of "Gram- ma Grunt's Country Collec- tables" has a large selection of dried floral arrangements, woven afghans, tablecloths, simmering pots, candles and more. Sharon Russell of Pickering is returning with dried flower and grapevine rch wreaths, jewellery, hats and baskets. Hutton & Co. of Ajax, much in the tradition of an old time country peddler will feature many crafts, gifts and pine fur- niture in their mobile van. If you missed Caroline Mor- rissey at the Arena Antique and Craft Show in June than come see her Flower Creations and Crafts at our Mexican Market. Ruth Busija 'The Stitch Witch" of Hamilton does wonderful fabric crafts. If all goes well with the hydro at the park Annette Rutschmann, Port Perry will be stuffing gift balloons and Suzanne Nadeau will be printing personalized Children's Books along with sell- ing rubber stamps and pads. Come to the Festival Craft Show early and just before you sit down to watch the Canadian Water Ski Show at 11:00 am., buy a handmade macrame chair, lounge or rocker from Don Stin- son of Lindsay.
