Bantams lose tough one to Royals On Tuesday, July 3rd, the Cana- dian Tire Bantam Fastball team played the Oshawa Royals at Alexandria Park, and came away with a tough 1-0 loss. This game was a pitchers duel with Jeff Card and Chad Venning combining for a 4 hitter, while Oshawa allowed only six hits. Port started a promising fourth inning with a double and a single. B/R down Cowboys B & R Electric downs Cowboys 9-7 In a hard fought struggle, tense to the last pitch, B & R Electric held their lead to win 9 to 7 over the Cowboys. Mike Bent started B & R's scor- ing in the first inning and scored the final run in the top of the last inning. Steven Ball and Colin Laird played a good infield defence for B & R. Despite some first inning pro- blems B & R pitcher Tim Fitz- patrick's star talent shone through for the win. Cowboy's pitcher Cameron Cook played a great game, steady on the mound and starting Cowboy's scoring with an RBI in a strong first inning. Outfielders Robert Birchall and Rodney Greenough played a good game and added to the scoring drive. Pee Wees defeat Pickering Homestead Furniture Pee Wee Girls soccer team travelled to Pickering on July 4 and came home winners 3-0. In the first half Shawna Cornish scored on a nice pass from Emi- ly Cosway and Kelly Phipps. Both goalies made super saves to keep the score 1-0 at half time. The Homestead gals dominated the second half and Shawna Cor- nish got her second goal followed shortly by Emily Cosway's goal. Pickering tried hard to come back but Lisa Dodd, Christina Clark and Sarah Coyne broke up many plays on defense. Sara Cosway played goal and earned the shut- out. Next game Tuesday night at Soccer Fields. Valu Mart defeated Greenbank Variety defeated Valu Mart in a hard hitting game last Wednesday. Valu Mart's Adam Murphy played an outstanding game as well as Lisa LaForte and Wyatt: Park. Greenbank's heavy hitters in- clude Clayton Brown and Andrew Donnelly.
