Outdoor Church service on July 8 by Rachel McMillan The U.C.W. Service on Sunday was well planned with lots of good music. The guest speaker, Helen C. Abell spoke on South Africa and left us with a good outline of the conditions and plight of the black peoples. Services at the same hour next Sunday. Greenbank Outdoor Church Service will be held on July 8th followed by a picnic lunch and games in the park. The afternoon unity of the U.C.W. is having a bake sale at the church on Friday June 29th. Please have baking in by 1:30 p.m. Church service this Sunday will be held at 11:00 a.m. in Utica with Rev. Newton Reed of Uxbridge taking the service once again. This Friday is euchre night in Utica Hall starting at 8 p.m. There will be a picnic barbecue at the home of Marvin & Cathy Stevenson on Saturday, July 7th. This is to say good-bye to Denzil, Linda, Sally & Amy Irving. Time - start 5:30 p.m.. Please bring meat for your own family to barbecue and 1 dish for potluck. Congratulations to John & Jane Bradbury (former Utica residents) who were presented with their 1st grandson, Michael John who was born in Uxbridge 'Cottage Hospital on Saturday to Jacqueline & Randy Wilson. I had a memorable day on Thursday as I played at the Ladies Invitational at Scarboro Golf & Country Club. These same fairways were once used by hun- dreds of skiers (I among them) each winter weekend when I was a teenager living just a stones throw away. Last Wednesday evening at the Women's Institute meeting there was a big surprise when, our President, Margaret Couper- thwaite presented hours truly with a Life Membership pin and certificate. This was very unex- pected and I do thank her and the members of the branch for this lovely way of saying thank you. The annual Ianson Family Reu- nion was held on Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Murry Lee. Visitors from Hepworth, Owen Sound, Trout Creek, Norwood, Hastings and Ottawa attended making 25 adults and 16 children present. The Frank Lee family had a quiet 90th Birthday celebration for their father at his home on Sunday afternoon. Congratulations to Laura Dob- son on her graduation at Western University with her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics last Thursday. A Couves family get-together was held in Oshawa to congratulate Laura on her fine achievement. Mr. and Mrs. Art Couves visited last Tuesday with Pearls' sister Jeanette Montgomery, Guelph, then Wednesday from there travelled to London to visit brother Bert Finney. His family helped him celebrate his 90th birth- day on Sunday. (His birthday Is today, June 19.) This turn of the century birthday boy has two sons, two daughters, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchiidren. Couples Club breaks for summer Prince Albert has lost a very colourful and unique friend in the passing of Earl Martyn. He was a great supporter of the children in our community as well as our church. We will miss him. Congratulations to Tracy Dowson and Bill Goddard who were united in marriage on Satur- day. What a beautiful wedding it was. The whole wedding party and guests were fun to be around. John & I now know that there are more great Dowsons in the coun- try. We were bartenders at the Curling Club where the reception was. Other busy Prince Albertons were baseball playing & eating. The Couples Club met for the final time before summer holdiays. A great time was had by all. Sunday, June 24 'is the Strawberry Supper. There are tickets left. Please call Linda McMillan. Also if you have a few spare moments, come & help.
