Many families proudly took part in Graduation Exercises this past week. On Friday, Brian Van Camp graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree. He was awarded one of the five Class of 51 0.A.C. Leadership Awards and also the 0.A.C. Students' Federa- tion Award. His parents Ruby and Richard VanCamp and sister Jill attended the Convocation Exer- cises and the Banquet and Recep- tion where the guest speaker was Eugene Whalen. On Saturday morning Glen Degeer, Tara Bailey, Rob Graham, Natalie Green and Diane Densmore all graduated from Durham College in an im- pressive ceremony. Barbara McDougall was the guest speaker at this happy event. Each of these graduates had their family members in attendance. Congratulations to you all on your graduation and best wishes for the future. On Saturday Ruby VanCamp attended the Reunion on Peter- borough Normal School at the Rockhaven celebrating 40 years . since Graduation. This was the first reunion since the 129 students left. 69 were in atten- dance at the Reunion. On Friday evening about 80 women of the community gathered at the C.E. Room of the United Church for a dinner prepared and served by the men of the Church. The guest speaker was Madame Justice M. Van- Camp, who gave an excellent talk on her life as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Ontario. A live- ly sing song added to the even- ing's programme. Ralph and Peggy Larmer en- joyed last weekend in Ottawa where they visited Ralph's sister Beryl and Ken Strang and fami- ly. On the way home they visited some friends who are Guernsey breeders in Eastern Ontario. There were 17 tables at the weekly card party on Tuesday evening with the following - Julie Harris, Ruby Smith, Kathleen Watts, Kevin Martin, Harold Burgess, Olive Ormiston, and low - Carl Ferguson. Draws were won by Mary Poots, Harold Swain, Julie Harris, Bernice Loudfoot, Muriel Butson, Harold Burgess and Ross McRoberts. The Lioness Club of Blackstock and District held a' very suc- cessful Lobsterfest and Dance at the Blackstock Rec Centre on Saturday evening. On Sunday afternoon the weather held off rain for the an- nual Decoration Service when Rev. Dale Davis was the speaker. A fine crowd attended this service. On Sunday afternoon a bridal shower in honour of bride-to-be Debbie VanCamp was held at the home of her cousin Margaret Kemp when members of the Van- Camp clan attended. Debbie opened her many beautiful gifts and thanked everyone for the gifts and best wishes. A social time was enjoyed. Wilma VanCamp, Edith McLaughlin, Eileen McLaughlin and Helen Bradburn enjoyed a trip to Ottawa where they toured many points of interest. - Helen Dorrell spent part of last week in the area.
