Katie Fockler finished firstin the 10 year old girl's shot put event. She then qualified for the Durham Final where she placed sixth. Brad Hawker placed first in the nine year old boy's triple jump and fifth in the 400 metre race. Tanya Wilson placed second in the nine year old girl's 400 metre race. Aaron Combdon finished sec- ond in the nine year old boy's 200 metre race. Evan Gower placed third in the 10 year old boy's triple jump and fifth in the long jump. Travis van Kessel finished sixth in both the nine year old boy's long jump and 800 metre race. Amy Irving place sixth in the 10 year old girl's triple jump. SEER ROSSA OOESSIAS SSIS el RAEI ARLES 0000 arate The Toronto Wado Kai af- filiated clubs of Port Perry & Rosedale (under direction of Robert Dods, 3rd Dan) and IBM (under direction of Nelson Coish, 1st Kyu) held an inter-club Tour- nament, hosted by Port Perry Wado Kai on May 27. This tournament is the second annual event Port Perry has held for the students to get some ex- perience in friendly competition. The hope of everyone's participa- tion is to introduce Karate as a competitive, safe sport, especial- ly for those unsure of entering competitions. There was a good turnout and some good Black belt competi- tion. Guest instructors from the Toronto Wado Kai helped with the judging and to compete in the Black belt division. On the weekend of June 15, about 25 members and family of the Port Perry Wado Kai will be travelling to Wasaga Beach for the Annual Toronto Wado Kai Karate Training Camp. This is a weekend retreat designed for all of the clubs in the Toronto, Oshawa, Port Perry areas to get together to share ideas on their training, to train together with about 150 karate students, and finish the weekend with an All- Club tournament. Port Perry has Garden Centre mites win 13-5 Greenbank Garden Centre team won their first game of the season. Two double plays from Brian's Towing team members Shawn Jeffrey and Mark Smith, as well as a strong game as cat- cher by Nicole Beeton were not quite enough to win. With an excellent fly ball catch by Shauna Simmonds and the strong batting efforts of Amy Postma and Donald Campbell Greenbank went on to win 13-5. NIST VU PN IRN in (roy ae J Ag PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 12, 1990 -- 23 Perfect Heating wins 9-6 in close game against Philp in squirt boys baseball Last Tuesday Perfect Heating and Philip Pontiac played a close and exciting game with the Perfect Heating team coming up with the win 9-6. Philip Pontiac's first inning was their strongest, bringing in 5 of their runs. The score stayed 5-2 for a few innings, but Perfect Heating slowly came back taking the lead and holding onto it. Perfect Heating's Jeremy Gib- son and Jay Fletcher had the on- ly double play of the game with the help of Joy's outstanding catch on short stop. Carl Phoenix made some nice defensive plays on 1st, while Steven Postma did a great job covering 2nd and Ryan Tyce talked-up some great sup- porting words for his pitcher > while covering the plate. Philip Pontiac saw Nick Kutlik Field well along with hitting a home run. Paul Fitchett had a beautiful home run. Phillip's team also had John Babcock do a super job on 1st base.
