This was the case recently when the Community Memori- al Hospital was anticipating the replacement of an obsolete delivery room table. A group of concerned donors, including patients and staff, graciously gave $2,600 to this project. A hefty boost of an addi- tional $6,800 was raised by the work of the Hospital Auxiliary. The $14,000 birthing bed was purchased and several patients have already benefitted fromit. The bed is an adaptable and Christian school students raise over $3.000 in read-a-thon Christian school students earned over $3,000 worth of books through a recent read-a- thon held at the school. The read-a-thon was a World Book Partners in Excellence Program. The children were to read at least seven books in a seven week period, and also recruit Sponsors. The children read an average of 10-12 books, with one stu- dent reading 50. The grade sev- en and eight class read the most amount. The 71 students raised $2,228, and for every $2 made by the students World Book do- nated $1. World Book's contri- bution of $1,114, brought the school total to $3,342. With this money the school purchased three World Book Encyclopedia sets, two sets of Child Craft, one set of Early comfortable alternative to the operating theatre type of table reviously used. Supportive eatures such as the degree of back tilt and foot supports use better body mechanics to assist the laboring patient. This equipment, in addition to the hospital's foetal monitor, can be reassuring to the pa- tients that the community pro- vides not only a caring delivery but the latest in obstetrical comfort and technology. As a result of the hospital's many benefactors the commu- nity will be assured of many years of state-of-the-art health care in a familiar atmosphere. World of Learning, two world atlases, and 10 dictionaries, among others. After purchasing these books the school still had a surplus of $666.25, which will be spent at a later date on more resources for the library. World Book representative Mr. Wilson was on hand Friday at the school to make several presentations to the school. He stated that his company got involved in this program because he saw the trouble schools were having with their budgets. That schools were having a hard time having enough funds to purchase the . STR of books that are need- ed. The students at the Chris- tian School were honored with medals, and certificates at an assembly Friday morning, in appreciation of their efforts. The cleaning program will be performed during the months of May and June, 1990. : d : : The contractor will notify consumers before starting operations in each section of watermain and again when work on that section is finished.{There may have to be brief water shutdowns in some areas, in which case, consumers will be similarly notified. The work will be carried out expeditiously, with the least possible inconvenience to consumers. , : . Consumers in an area being cleaned are cautioned not to draw any water, for any purpose, until the operation in that section is finished. Failure to observe this precaution could result in material being drawn into buildings' plumbing systems and possibly plug water lines from the street to the buildings. It is the consumers' responsibility to take preventive measures. It is advisable to keer = supply of water, in containers, on hand for emergencies.
