PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 17, 1990 -- 3 Council demands new road for development of homes Scugog council will contin- ue to insist that a new road be constructed into the Oak Hills development near Chalk Lake if the developer proceeds with any new residential develop- ment. But following a stormy de- bate in the council chambers April 9, it was decided not to de- mand the second road if the fu- ture expansion is limited to a further nine holes to the golf course that is part of the devel- opment. At one point during the dis- cussion on the issue, Township administrator Earl Cuddie warned councillors that if theis- sue of the second road winds up in front of the Ontario Munici- pal Board, the Township could have a hard time justifying the demand for a second road. Councillors Don Cochrane and Yvonne Christie have both taken a hard line in demanding a second access road into the de- velopment, but they agreed last week that it isn't needed if fu- ture development is limited to golfcourse expansion. However, they insist that if Ridgeland Developments wants to bring 23 new housing lots on stream, the new road to connect to the Brock Road must be built. Cost estimates for building this new access road are high, and Ridgeland has balked at the issue and threatened to take the matter in front of the Municipal Board. As for adding another nine holes to the golf course, council will ask the developer for a cash contribution (not specified) for SPRING 90 SALE April 11th to 21st, 1990 ALL SHEER PANTY HOSE 8364 -- Sheer, reinforced toe, cotton lined gusset ...............
