Arena support is needed (From page 17) are busy preparing for the Irish Stew Supper this Saturday even: ing, April 21 at the Church. Tickets are available from Dorothy Venning 986-4288. Congratulations to Mrs. Irene Hoffman, House No. 12, County Road 57 on her recent marriage to Karl Hoestermann of Seagrave. This area lost another Senior Citizen with the passing of Mrs. Alfred Grace. She lived near the Anglican Church here as a girl. After their marriage the Graces farmed in both Cartwright and Darlington Townships. Most peo- ple will know her son Harry and his wife Jean who delivered mail for nearly forty years. The funeral was conducted by Mrs. Grace's grand-son-in-law, Rev. Ed McKague. U.C.W. On Tuesday, April 10, twelve ladies gathered at the Church for their meeting. After a delicious dessert luncheon, Jean Ferguson acting for Marion Larmer open- ed the meeting with a poem "Dark Days.' The message was What do we do with the Easter bunny and the egg? Instead of treating them as pagan symbols which they originally were, let's think of them as teaching the Easter message representing fer- tility, new life and immortality. The roll call was answered with our favourite T.V. programme. Jean Churchill ably conducted the worship using the Easter Message as her theme finishing with the singing of "When I survey the Wondrous Cross." Mention was made of the Stew Supper at the Church on Satur- day, April 21st and also Women's Conference at Waterloo on June 8 and 9. Marion Larmer gave the theme, using a video presentation on the topic of "What are We Call- ed to Do Individually and Collec- tively? How do we equip ourselves to be the Church?" Our discussion brought out the follow- ing points - regular attendance, helping with groups e.g. U.C.W. or choir, helping to make life bet- ter for all people by counselling services and world relief pro- grammes, realizing that of- fenders are people, and working toward justice and reconciliation for victims and offenders.
