For the first three months of the 1990 calendar year, combined car and truck sales totalled 108,465 units. This is a slight decrease of 2.2 percent from the 110,898 units sold last year. Truck sales in March of 17,061 were up 13.1 percent from the 15,083 sold in March, 1989. For the first three months of the calendar year, sales of General Motors trucks totalled 37,941, up by 3.5 percent from the 36,670 sold in the same period last year. Passenger car deliveries in March of 31,099 were down 4.4 percent from the 32,520 sold in March 1989. Sales of GM passenger cars for January, February and March totalled 70,524 - down 5 percent from the 1989 total of 74,228. "We're delighted by the solid in- creases shown in the truck market this month," said Atkin- son. "We've registered strong in- creases in sales of our Oshawa- built C-K trucks, mid-sized vans, two and four-door Blazer and Jimmy utility vehicles, as well as Chevrolet Lumina and Pontiac Trans Sport APV's." Atkinson said sales of Isuzu's sport utility Trooper and its com- pact pick-up, P'Up, both offered by GM's Passport division, were up by 286 percent and 215 percent, respectively over last March. '"'Special incentive programs such as our 'Driving Home the Value' program for Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunbird have done an outstanding job for us during March," said Atkinson. "As a result, we attained the highest sales on record since these cars were introduced." Crime Stoppers needs help to solveB & E Crime Stoppers and Durham Regional Police are again asking for the Public's help in solving the continuing number of Break and "Enters which are occurring in all areas of our Region. A recent example is a Break and Enter which occurred at 12 Main Street West, Beaverton bet- ween the 8th and 9th of March this year. Stereo equipment was taken on this occasion. Two years ago, this same house was broken into and a substantial quantity of property taken. Did you know that there were over 3,000 Break and Enters in the Region in 1989. This costs hun- dreds of thousands of dollars every year. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of anyone responsible for Break and Enters. Have you any idea who was responsible? Do you know or have you heard of anyone selling pro- perty cheap? If so, call Crime Stoppers. You will never be asked for your name or have to go to Court.
