Choral Society to present rock opera 'Jesus Christ Superstar' The Choral Society is putting the finishing touches to its production of the rock op- era "Jesus Christ Superstar" which will be staged in nine per- formances at the Town Hall 1878 in Port Perry. This well-known produc- tion was originally produced on Broadway by Robert Stigwood and M.C.A. Inc., by special ar- rangement with David Land. The original Broadway pro- duction was conceived by Tom O'Horgan. Lyrics were by Tim Rice and the music by the now- Students go wild during wildlife week During National Wildlife Week, April 8-14, thousands of students will begin working on projects that will help improve habitat for wildlife in their communities by the year 2000. This initiative is all part of an environmental educa- tion program entitled 'Habitat 2000" developed by the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF). Up to $200 per project will be available. tq the students from a "Habitat 2000 Fund" established in 1989 by CWF, Environment Canada, Wildlife Habitat Canada and Outdoor Canada Magazine. Ideas for projects, ranging from planting trees to adopting ecosystems, are available in the National Wildlife Week educa- tional kit. The 1990 kit focuses on the concept of sustainable development and has been distributed to thousands of schools across Canada by the pro- vincial and territorial wildlife departments. Students registering as a '"Habitat 2000 Class" will be en- couraged to approach local wildlife agencies, fish and game clubs, naturalist groups and local museums for help with their projects. The rock opera will feature Walter Bone in the lead role as Jesus Christ, with Herb Vine in the role of Judas and Nancy GLUCOSCAN' Brown as Mary Magdelene. The production opens on April 19 (8:00 PM curtain) and will continue on April 20, 26, 27, and 28,and on May 2,3,4 and b. Tickets are $10 each except for the April 19 and 26 perfor- mances which are $8 each.
