Tourism president elected As a result of the Tourist Association's Annual General Meeting, Mr. Rick Clow, will hold the position of TADR President for the 1990 term. Mr. Clow, Areas Manager of the Central Lake Ontario Conserva- tion Authority, enthusiastically thanked the Board for their con- fidence and support in their choice and promised to devote personal time and effort in mak- ing tourism a vital component in Durham's economy. Mr. Clow thanked the 1989 Board of Directors and the Region's Economic Development Department for all of their sup- port and dedication to tourism. Mr. Clow stated "we are enter- ing a new decade and many im- portant opportunities will be before us in the next few years, tourism will play an important role in the local economy. We have the potential in Durham Region, it is just a case of taking the time and effort to tap this vital resource." He continued 'the Executive of TADR is going to be busy over the next couple months preparing for this year's events. We have a Literature Swap planned, a 1990 Marketplace, training seminars and other special events which promise to be exciting and in- teresting. As well, the Association will continue to serve as a great network for local businesses in- volved in the Tourism industry. I would like to stress the impor- tance of the Board's participation, if everyone gives a little of their time and cooperation it will assist us in meeting our goals today and in the future."
