PHILP PONTIAC BUICK LIMITED 10 Vanedward Drive, Port Perrry 985-8474 Letters to the editor aan dd od Snowmobiles should be banned To the Editor: That's it, I have kept quiet long enough, myself and others have reported (as you requested), the ongoing snowmobile infractions to the police, snowmobile club and to councillor Marilyn Pearce, but to no avail. Just exactly when, Mr. Mayor, are you finally going to realize that this so called "new" strictly enforced (ha, ha) snowmobile bylaw is not working. Where is the assistance from the snowmobile club (i.e. when is the town clerk Mr. Cuddie going to have some '"'wardens" deputiz- ed to charge the offenders). Ac- cording to the club, they're still waiting. If any have been assign- ed then where are the phone numbers of who to call, they cer- tainly haven't been in the "newspaper. If you don't think there is a pro- blem, then take a walk through town and in the subdivisions especially on weekends and see the telltale tracks and the actual offenders going over lawns, Difference In a degree To the Editor: A difference of degree makes a difference of kind, or a fire in nay ire | furnace keeps me warm, a out of control destroys my house and leaves me cold. In a country of diverse na- tionalities I realize I must develop my ability to understand and be willing to share. The other feeling I have is tore- tain my integrity and faithfulness to the hard work of past generatioris. I cannot willingly accept a distinct society, especially when it is by demand. LIMITED NUMBER of PREVIOUSLY OWNED TRADE-INS on SPECIAL. boulevards, sidewalks, parks and thru the walkway over to highway 7A. You know '"'that walkway," the one that is posted with the sign showing a snowmobile with a line thru it. Well it's like the 401 with the number of Skidoos roaring thru it at all hours of the day and night. I can only presume that these morons are illiterate also. I believe it is time to ban these '"noise" machines from town. They should only be allowed on the trails, the lake and to cross Water St. for fuel. It obviously isn't tourists that are breaking the law, but "locals," people who just don't give a damn that they are breaking the law. They had their chance and chose to ignore it. We have been patient for the past two months with this ongoing pro- blem. It is time for you to finally act and the time is now!!! Yours truly N. Thompson 56 Orchard Rd., Port Perry. He protests too much To the Editor: With regards to last weeks com- ments about affordable housing from Mr. Doug Wilson, all I can say is, "Me thinks he doest pro- test too much." From the tone of his last half dozen or so letters in this paper, I assume that this is the same Doug Wilson, the land '"'developer,'"" who is attempting to overturn a council decision against the '"'development" of his particular property. The wild statements made in these all too frequent letters, seem to be designed to achieve some form of support for his cause from the public and, in par- ticular, from the farming community. As a life long resident of this area and, up until a short while ago, as a dairy farmer, I can feel nothing in common with this man's views which leave me with the impression that he will do or say almost anything to put houses on his land. Congratulations to the council for their 'no' vote on this one, I only wish that they would show the 'same backbone with other proposals that threaten to turn this still largely rural communi- ty into another bloated urban wasteland.
