Take the sights, sounds and flavour of Great Britain, Bahamas, Mexico and Spain, throw them together and what would you get? Festival Days '90, that's what. The theme for Port Perry's annual mid-summer bash has been expanded to include Spain and Mexico, along with the Brit. ish and Bahamas motif from previous years. Organizers of this year's Festival feel the diversity of two new countries along with those of previous years will add great- y to the event to be held in mid- uly. They are calling it a "World Tour," and Festival goers will have the chance to sample tra- ditional foods and drinks from Spain and Mexico, hear the sounds of a Mariachi Band and enjoy the flamboyance of fla- menco dancers from Spain. Organizers feel the com- bined four-country theme will have a wider appeal for the pub- lic and allow participating mer- chants and organizations more flexibility in decorations and ex- hibits, said Larry Emmerson, who is chairing the Festival Days Committee. The plans for the 1990 Fes- tival were presented to the Scu- gog Chamber of Commerce An- nual meetingheld January 9. Including Mr. Emmerson, members of the Festival Days committee are Val Eden, Nellie and Bruce Stehl, Bill Barr and Debbie and Bryce Jones. _.- This committee will be re- sponsible for the overall organi- 'zation of the event, and will re- port to the Chamber of Commerce which has sponsored Festival Days since it started in Port Perry many years ago. Another new wrinkle for this summer's Festival is a World Tours Passport (free to the public) which will include tourist information, merchant discount coupons and passport stamps. estival Days is the largest event sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce, and it At the Chamber of Com- merce annual meeting held January 9, six new directors Six new directors with the Scugog Chamber of Commerce were elected as the organi- zation held its annual meeting Jan. 9 in Port Perry.
