We enjoyed the New Year here with many friends and neighbours. Happy birthday wishes to our son Bill who celebrated his birthday New Year's Eve. The New Year's Eve Party People and their children would like to thank Keith Moore for the sleigh ride, big camp fire and hot chocolate. It had to be one of the best New Year's Eves yet. We all danced and did the count down at midnight under the sky. There were tears of joy & sadness, the ending of a decade, the beginning of a new decade. Thanks again, Keith, we all hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Special thanks - to Doug and Marj Dempsey for opening their home before and after the sleigh ride. That's it this week, please call Diane Cooke at 985-3722 for news next week. Time to take inventory as new year begins New Year Thoughts As we begin a New Year 1990 - and a new decade..it is time to take inventory. Our thoughts drift back to the events and people that shaped our lives over the past 12 months. It was a year of delight for some; sorrow for many; and frustrated hopes and despair as they tried to cope with the pro- blems of life. The texture of our lives shifted and changed with the growing cost of living; the gloomy Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker voices of labour disputes, violence, high taxes, etc. Unplea- sant as are all these conditions, are we mindful of our blessings? Let us be thankful that we live in a free country; with freedom of speech, religion and education. May I wish each and everyone a very Happy New Year! Nestleton Presbyterian Church The regular morning service at 11 a.m. was conducted by Rev. W. Fairley in the Nestleton Presbyterian Church. Joyce Taylor capably played the organ. The responsive Psalm was No. Ministry D: Revenue Ontario Remo Mancini Minister EMPLOYER HEALTH TAX 1989. e Metro Toronto e All other areas the deaf Effective January, 1990, the new EMPLOYER HEALTH TAX (EHT) replaces Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) premiums. Fairley's sermon) -- As we recall the events that have touched our lives over the past year or throughout the eighties, we may \claim to have increased our clovicdse and experiences, but hate we in- creased in that wisdom that ex- presses trust in the word of God? Reverence for God is the beginn- ing of wisdom, therefore we must believe God shares our sorrows, joys, frustrations and misunderstandings, giving spiritual significance to everything in life. Let us go into the future in the light, truth and promises of our Saviour. Organizations were requested to prepare yearly reports in readiness for the annual meeting. Edgar & Anne Emerson of Nestleton, had a most enjoyable few days...Saturday through Tuesday...with many relatives and friends...during the Christmas Season...at their love- ly old farm home. Nestleton United Church A very good congregation at Nestleton United on Sunday, December 31 at 11:15 a.m. with Rev. Dale Davis presenting a fine message based on "Reflections from the 1980's, and looking for- ward to the 1990's."' The last can- - dle for Epiphany was lit. Dwight Davis was the Scripture reader. The children's theme was of in- terest. Rev. Davis spoke of Love shining through at Christmas time with families together...and turning off the tap after the festivities are over. Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford was in the pulpit. He took as his message theme, 'Hidden Treasure' from Scripture Matthew 7: 7-20. The reason for the birth of the Christ Child...was to bring us a real treasure...the Gift of Love and Life...salvation through Jesus Christ...the son of God. The lesson was read by Frank Arney and the responsive reading by Norma Stek. Mrs. K. Watts played for the service. On Sunday evening, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. the Sunshine Club presented a delightful variety programme for parents and friends. They sang the traditional Christmas Carols...as well as new songs they had learned. A recital was also of interest. The older children read The Christmas Story. The leaders Cecile Gib- bons, Audrey Kleinjan and Teresa Berkers with Kathy Watts play- ing for the programme... must have been very proud of the children...to say nothing of the parents. At the close of the pro- gramme...the excited children recieved gifts, and refreshments were served to the parents and friends. A great night in the life of the church for Caesarea.
