A New Year's Eve dance rocks Blackstock area by Joyce Kelly A very successful New Year's Eve Dance was held in the Blackstock Recreation Centre hosted by the 0.N.O. Club. Music was provided by Dennis Franssen, D.J.. Christmas Day guests at Sheila and Bill Shortridge, Stephanie and Casey were Mrs. Erskinne, Judy, Danielle and Ryan Hopkins, Dale and Kathy Russell and fami- ly, Hector and May Shortridge. Les and Jan Bushfield, Trevor and Dana of Landon spent the weekend with her parents Murray and Aileen Byers. On Saturday Barb and Jim Byers and family hosted the Byers Christmas gathering with the Bushfield's and Murray Byers' attending. Larry and Mary Mackie were Christmas Eve guests of Hector and May Shortridge. On New Year's Day afternoon Judi Mountjoy and Kerry Mount- joy and her friend Jeff Goulding were involved in a serious car ac- cident just south of the village. Judi is in stable condition in Bowmanville hospital. We wish a speedy recovery, Judi. Guests of Vera and Vernon Asselstine during the Christmas holidays were Gerald Asselstine of Oshawa, Alan and Mary Asselstine, Tania, Michael and Mark of Ottawa, Les and Leah Asselstine, Gayle and Rob of Kit- chener, Floyd and Ruth Asselstine, Michelle and Craig; Colin and Christine Asselstine, Jennifer and Sarah all of Blackstock. Sharon and Herb Bennick and Jamie held a family Christmas gathering with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Bray, Shawn Bennedict, Alan Bailey, Marilyn Bailey, Janet and Rob Taylor of Oshawa, Laurie and Eric Zimmeron, Sherry and Jef- frey as guests. On Boxing Day, guests at Vern and Vera Asselstine were Ver- non's sister Mr. and Mrs. Carl Webb and Paul of Trenton, Ver- non's nephew Mr. and Mrs. Rick Mortimer and Sarah of Bolton and Vernon's niece Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Little, Mandy and Melanie of Mississauga. Thursday evening guests at the Asselstine home were Jim and May Smitherman, Port Perry. Friday afternoon and evening guests were Ken and Shirley Gwilliam, Indian River. New Year's Day guests of Mr. _and Mrs. Gerald Kelly, Elaine and Esther were Mrs. Edna Kel- ly Bobcaygeon, Mrs. Cora Hogg, Fenelon Falls, Peter and Elizabeth Peeters, Omemee, Mr. Francis Peeters, Reaboro, Mrs. Berta Tiers, Bobcaygeon, Mrs. Audrey Gilmour, Cambray, Jim and Ella Walker, Lindsay, Ernie and Victoria Hargrave, Woodville. Ralph and Peggy Larmer were the hosts of the Larnmier New Year's Day gathering at the Blackstock United Church C.E, Room. In attendance were Glenn, Marion and Craig Larmer, Blackstock, Doug, Joyce, Jessica and James Larmer, Port Perry, Lois and Harvey Yellowlees, Solina, Donald, Karen and Timothy Dair, Hampton, Ron, Brenda, Sara, Michael, Nancy, Kimberly and Emily Metcalfe, Base Line, Dennis and Karen Yellowlees and Christina of Nestleton, Wayne and Lynne Yellowlees of Solina, Dave and In- grid Larmer, Robert and Steven, Heather and Daryl Goulding all of Blackstock. About sixty-five members of the Mountjoy-Ferguson families enjoyed their annual family reu- nion at the Recreation Centre on New Year's Day. The group en- joyed two potluck dinners, an afternoon spent skating at the arena and much visiting. Eileen and Harold McLaughlin were New Year's Day guests of Lloyd and Jean Slemon and Fred of Haydon. Ruth and Keith Johnston of Belleville were guests of Frank and Muriel Hoskin and attended thé gathering at the Rec Centre. Lela Wanrqn of Burlington was a weekend \guest of Mrs. Margaret Mountjoy and attended , - the Mountjoy gathering. Audrey and Walter Wright returned on New Year's Eve from an enjoyable trip to Asia for much of the month of December. They visited their daughter Lorna's husband's family in Solo, In- donesia and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pynn in Bandgkok, Thialand. Mrs Pynn is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Wright of Yelverton. Her mother was a teacher in this area many years ago. Audrey and Walter tourned many other places in Thialand & also Junkarta, Indonesia. What a wealth of experiences they gain- ed from this trip! We will be look- ing forward to hearing more of this trip in the future. Craig Paisley of Edmonton spent Christmas week with his father Gordon Paisley and his® sister Kathy and other relatives and friends in the area. Like most of the province, Scugog shivered as the mercury plummeted ! to record lows.
