It's that time of year again, when we're all caught up in the busy time of Christmas prepara- tion. However, do let us take time to enjoy the true magic of the season, as we celebrate Christs' birth. Last weekend was a hub of ac- tivity at the Murcott Tree Farm, on Towline Road when once again many from the surrounding area drove out to the farm, and had the fun of cutting down their own Christmas tree, which is spon- sored by the Brooklin District' Lions Club. This is a part of Christmas I personally enjoy as I see many come and go carrying the tree of their choice on the back of their car. Guess I'm privileg- ed to live so close by to all of this activity. By the way, the tree farm is open for the next two weekends for anyone to come out and cut their own tree. The church school are planning a bowling party to be held at Motor City Bowling, Oshawa, on Saturday evening, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. Anyone who enjoys bowling come along and enjoy a fun evening. Lunch afterwards in a nearby restaurant. We are leav- ing the church parking lot at 6:30. "The Ladies Bible Class and the Women's Missionary Society are joining - together for their Christmas Pot Luck Dinner, to be held in the church hall on Wednes- day December 13 at 6:30 p.m.. Special invitation to our men folk to join with us. Following the meal, we will enjoy a Christmas programme. Sunday, December 17, is White Gift Sunday at Burns - a time to remember those whe are less for- tunate than we are. Also the church school Christmas party will be held at 10:00 a.m. sharp. . Plan to join with us, as we celebrate Christmas. Each per- son, young and older are asked to bring a gift and place it under the Christmas tree. Refreshments, and see thier lovely display of Christmas goodies, from tropical gardens to Christmas corsages. Plan to drop in, and wish them well, as they celebrate their first anniversary of serving Ashburn and area. Also in the store will be the Christmas stocking waiting to be filled, with toys, canned goods and monetary donations. These will be distributed to the north neighborhood by the Whitby Branch of the Salvation Army. Just another opportunity for us to give and share at this blessed Christmas time. . Theo and Joan Knight enjoyed a bus trip to Niagara Falls, New York, a week ago. While there, the Christmas lights were turned on. I enjoyed a lovely trip to 'Frankemouth, Michigan recently, accompanied by Doris Harding, Whitby. There is surely much to see and enjoy in this small Bavarian town. Bronner's Christmas Store was a real delight, and the Christmas lighting was truly a Christmas wonderland. The Community Centre are having a hay ride on Friday night of this week, meeting at Burns Church parking lot at 6:20 p.m. and leaving at 6:30. Do dress warmly, as everyone will be leav- ing the wagons to sing Christmas carols. The wagons will then return to the church for hot chocolate and doughnuts, If you do not feel like joining in on the wagon ride, you are most welcome to socialize over hot chocolate. Mr. Ingram was the organizer of the Scugog Branch, Canadian Cancer Soclety, Big Band Bash on Nov. 3.
