The presentation was made by Port Perry physician Wil- liam(Bill) Cohoon for Grumble Hill Ltd. It calls for 81 residential units; a hair salon, office for storing medical supplies and a tuck shop. "The store will not be for the neighbourhood," said Mr. Cohoon. "It is for the conven- ience of the residents, not to compete with downtown." And likewise the hair salon. Students win trophy for by Michael Connell There are many things happen- ing at Immaculate Conception this month and our volleyball season is one of them. The teams are picked and are busy practising. The junior boys team competed in a tournament on Tuesday, November 28 at St. Joseph's in Oshawa, where they placed third. On Saturday, December 2 the senior boys had a tournament at Dennis O'Connor High School in Ajax. As of the writing of this ar- ticle we don't know how they did. The junior girls team played in their tournament in Oshawa, vesterday at St. Joseph School and the senior girls will be going to Oshawa this Thursday to finish their season. Thursday, November 23 a stu- dent from Paul Dwyer's Youth For Life Group, Nola Hodkinson, spoke to Mr. Evangelista's grade 7 and to Mrs. Vandenhogans grade 6 class. She spoke about the dignity and value of human life, and the violence of abortion. As the Christmas season ap- proaches, our annual feed the hungry campaign is again under way and organized by Mrs. Vandenhogan. So keep bringing those non-perishable goods. They will be used by families right here in Scugog. The Kindergarten children entered a float in the Port Perry Santa Claus parade, with art work done by the grade eights. Special thank you to Mrs. Baxter, Mr. Woods, Mrs. Blackburn and Mr. Hall, who put the float together, and to Mr. Duda who drove the van. We received a trophy for the best religious float. Grades 6, 7 and 8's are going to best religious float Eastdale Collegiate this Wednes- day to see a play called '"'Charlie's Aunt." We are looking forward to this because the Eastdale Theatre Group always put on a great performance. The grade eight class had an in- teresting lesson last week by a consultant called Mr. Cutting. He taught us about the "Is Paul McCartney dead?" hoax. He played one song backwards so we could hear Paul's voice, and he showed us album covers hinting that Paul was dead and we listen- ed to the part of "Sergeant Pep- per's Lonely Heart Club Band," which hinted that the real Paul has been replaced by a look alike Paul. His iesson certainly gave us food for thought. The grade eight class would like to thank the Knights of Columbus for the rosaries they gave to each of us and the Catholic Women's League for the lovely pins of a dove, given to us as a gift for our Confirmation. We would also like to thank the Parents Advisory Committee for supplying the felt for our stoles, which we made and wore over our Confirmation gowns. But all isn't fun and games. Parent-teacher Interviews were on Thursday and Friday and report cards are going home this week. I trust all the students sur- vived this most trying time. A couple of important dates to mark off on your calendar: Dec. 18 -- Christmas concert; Dec. 22 - last day of school; Jan. 8 - first day back to school (oh boy); Jan. 24 - Gr. 8 parent's information night at Paul Dwyer High School.
