Melissa Dowson (left) of Uxbridge 4-H and Katie Middle- ton of Brock 4-H were presented with pen sets for complet- ing 12 projects. - Scholarship awards for Island boy and girl by Clara Dowson, P.R.0. On the evening of Nov. 15 the members of the Scugog Island * W.I. met at the Community Hall. Pres. Mary Ostrom welcomed all, and the usual reports were given. Roll Call: Name your favorite Christmas Carol. Motto - Put a smile on your face - and be glad. The Awards Committee reported on the scholarship awards for an Island boy or girl for 89-90. Connie Haigh gave her report from the Convention she attend- ed at the Royal York. Meeting closed with O'Canada and then Margaret Morrow and her group in charge took charge of program. Margaret read a piece on Christmas. Then Helen Hortop ' and other members showed many varied ways of wearing scarves and ties. The group had decorated with Christmas lights and trees, punch was served throughout the even- ing. Then came the exchange of gifts. What an array of beautiful hand crafted articles . Mary had her-usual gift and Margaret Mor- row was the holder of the lucky * ticket. Social evening was enjoyed over tea & coffee and the many calorie laden beautiful Christmas goodies.
