During the celebration of that feat Blackbeard arrives with news that an old lover of Anne's, Major Stede Bonnet, has been hanged in Charles Town. Devastated, Anne decides to put to sea again. By this time Anne and Jack Rackam are drawing apart. Realizing that Jack is not the all-encompassing love she has been seeking, Anne throws herself into capturing booty with a passion. She and her crew are later captured, and follow- | ing a trial, they are all sentenced to hang for their crimes. Anne and Mary, both being pregnant with hin are confined to prison until their children are orn. : During their stay in prison, Mary takes sick and dies in the arms of her good friend Anne.
