32 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, October 31, 1989 Police look driver in hit and run Crime Stoppers and Durham Regional Police are appealing for the Publics help in solving a Hit and Run Collision which occurred in Whitby on Friday October 13. At about 4:30 p.m. a motorcy- cle was being ridden east on Taunton Road approaching Garden Street. The motorcycle had slowed down and was inten- ding making a right turn when a truck passed it on the right shoulder. It hit the motorcycle and both the driver and passenger were thrown to the ground. The truck kept on going east- bound at a high speed and disappeared. Fortunately there were no serious injuries but the passenger was taken to hospital. The motor- cycle was extensively damaged. The wanted truck is described as a conventional MACK tractor unit with sleeper, white in colour with a green stripe about four in- ches thick along the side of the cab and across the rear of the sleeper. It had a chrome bumper, round headlights and a smoke stack on the passengers side. It was in very clean condition but was blowing black smoke. A re-enactment of this Hit and Run will be shown on CITY TV Chanel 57 Cable 7 on Thursday November 2, during the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news. It will also be shown on CHEX TV in Peter- borough and CKVR TV in Barrie on Friday and during the weekend. Crime Stoppers is asking for any information on this Hit and Run. The party, hosted by the Port Perry Senior Citizen's Club, honored Doris and Roy Grierson and Anne and Harold Cor- nish. Pictured from left are Mrs. Grierson, Mr. Cornish and Mrs. Cornish. Two minutes silence was observ- ed in honour of deceased members. Several items of business were discussed. Christmas dinner will be Wednesday, December 13 with Al's Catering in charge. The party started off with a mock-wedding. Clara Warren (Rev. Bill Harper sang "Silver Threads Among The Gold' just before the ceremony and "Let There Be Peace On Earth' dur- ing the signing of the Register. Doris & Roy Grierson and Anne & Harold Cornish, brides and grooms of 50 years ago put on a beautiful party of fancy sand- wiches, cookies and wedding cake for around 150 guests bringing a lovely social hour to a close.
