On Wednesday, The Allens Siding Tweens met head-to-head with their cross region rivals from Pickering and came away on the short end of a 5-4 score. It was shades of 1988, when we had so many games with Picker- ing that were only one or two goals apart. The girls knew they had their hands full right from the opening whistle and kept it close and were only down 2-1 at half time. Our on- ly marker was from Amy Parlia- ment and assisted by Lyndsay Dutkewich. Tracey Pelow came up hot with some great saves; and even though some of the opposition was a foot taller than Tammy Pillman, she never backed down in front of our net. Our newest arrival, Amanda Webb, tied the game at 13:23 of the second period, on a nice short handed goal, which was unassisted. The game continued tied until 4:12 was left, when Amy saw Karen Kett in the open and put a nice pass on her stick to allow Karen to give us the go- ahead goal. Pickering then tied the score only seconds later but then Amy set up Megan Marlowe for a pic- ture goal to give us the lead once again. Seconds later, Pickering tied the score, despite hard work by our defense, and the shot just escaped Tracy's reach. On this play, Tracy injured her knee but . was able to finish the game. Everyone gave 110 percent but with 23 seconds left, Pickering popped in their 5th goal for the win. After travelling to Warkworth the girls didn't take long to get into the game scoring within the first two minutes and ~ setting the pace for the game. The girls although a little disorganiz- ed at times showed great promise as they finished the game with a 9-2 win. Sunday was a different story as the girls came out with something to prove. The Allens Tweens met * Mississauga from a home game which featured the debut of Amy Parliament between the pipes for her first game as a Tween. With Tracy being out on the 7 day disabled list because of her knee, Amy was pressed into action without any practise and held Mississauga to only 4 goals while our girls answered with 10. Nice job Amy and thank-you! Everyone participated in the goals, except Tammy, but we do know that she set up one of the goals, but the referees cannot catch everything. Tammy and Jennifer Worden took their first turns as forwards and the results were interesting. (That extended zone line is dif- ferent from a forward point of view).
