TUESDAY NIGHT MIXED October 3 Team Standings: Bad Com- pany 16; Killer Dwarfs 13; Razor- Cloggers on Hunter Show You can bet that Leeanne Goslin and her brother Brad are going to be tuned in to the Tom- my Hunter Show when it airs on CBC October 14. Leeanne, 11, and Brad, 14, who live in Blackstock, are part of the show. They are members of the Showstompers, a group of clog- gers, who will peform on the Hunter show that evening. The actual taping was Sep- tember 7 at the CBC studios in Toronto, and the two young cloggers told the Star that was quite an experience in itself. The taping, in front of a stu- dio audience lasted some seven hours, and prior to that, the group spent countless hours in rehearsal. The Showstompers were invited to be part of the Hunter Show, which is a tribute to the 25 years the show has been on the air. Clogging is a form of danc- ing, that combines elements of tap, square and step dance. The costumes are flashy and colour- ful and cloggers appear to have energy to burn as they fill the stage with movement. Leeanne has been clogging for the last four years, and Brad for three. They started in Blackstock with the Pineridge Cloggers and are now part of the Ontario Rhythm Cloggers. The Showstompers group is under the direction of Sylvia Hunka, who introduced this dance form to Canada several years ago. If you'd like to see a couple of talented local dancers per- forming with their group on na- tional TV, tune in the Tommy Hunter Show the evening of Oc- tober 14. "The Green Machine" kicked off regular season play in Cobourg on Friday night. After compiling a 3 and O record in pre- season play, they were ready to 0. 8 The first period was scoreless with Port unable to get on track due to numerous trips to the - penalty box. Blackstock cloggers Leeanne Goslin and her brother Brad are part of a group of dancers who can be seen on the Tommy Hunter Show, this Saturday evening (Oct. 14) on CBC television. (see story for details) goal tender Jamie Reid earned his keep by frustrating the opposi- tion who enjoyed a two man ad- vantage for a full two minutes. The penalty parade continued through the second, with the of- ficials finally discovering infrac- tions by the home team. It was not until midway through the third that Cobourg drew first blood on their power play and scored on a scramble in front. With 21% minutes left, Port scored on one of their few power play op- portunities. A neat bit of work by Darryl McEnenay from Timmy Fitzpatrick and Kevin Gray. From this point on, Port owned the Cobourg end but were unable Atoms settle for 1-1 tie to score, finally settling for a 1-1 tie. The goaltending by Jamie Reid, Daryl Holtby and Brandon Ham- mond was superb throughtout. Special mention to Jeff Clarke who had a particularly strong game on defense and was generally all over the ice. The forewards, Todd Parry, Daryl Moase, Brad ,Shanley, Tommy Chambers Kent Johnston and Robby Murphy matched Cobourg stride for stride. The defensive pairs of Brad Morton and Mike Heasman as well as Jeff Clarke and Jason Logan broke up the opposition's rushes all night long.
