Belly dancer a big hit at senior wedding week Na = HIE a Ya by Wendy Clark Well "Wedding Week' has come and gone. A week of special activities were planned in celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Ar- thur Edmonds 77th Anniversary. We started off the week with a Bridal Tea. Mrs. Edmonds was treated to her first ever Bridal Shower. The ladies certainly en- joyed the food and the fun games. Tuesday September 19th was our Wedding Memories Day. Many residents and staff had their wedding memorbilias displayed for all to view. The following day the men were treated to a fun-filled stag. The mysterious Belly Dancer was a big hit along with the card games, darts and drinks. The ladies were kept busy making wedding table favours. Finally the Wedding- Anniversary Day arrived on Thursday. The diningroom had been transformed into a magical church setting complete with flowers and balloons. The lovely bride wore a beautiful 3; length cream dress. A momorable ceremony was given by Anna McLaughlin who portrayed the minister in our mock wedding. Mr. and Mrs. David Petrie stood up as the Best Man and Maid of Honour. Delightful piano music was played by Mrs. Eva Hunter. After the lovely wedding everyone enjoyed a luncheon. A special thank you to the Personal Touch for lending us many beautiful decorations. The happy couple then had a delicious can- dle light dinner together. To end the day there was an evening reception with Earl and Audrey Geer as featured D.J.'s. The last day began with a special Champagne breakfast that they had in their honeymoon suite that had been decorated especially for this occasion. On behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Edmonds an extra big thank you goes out to the girls in the Activity depart- ment for their hard work in mak- ing this a very very special week. Other residents enjoyed an after- noon of Bingo. Beginning the last week of September there was a bowling match with Lionel Blaikie being our top scorer with 118 points. In the evening we held a Volunteer Night. A few past volunteers at- tended and pleased us with many positive comments. Tuesday September 26, we held the mon- thly birthday party for September. Entertainment was provided by Mr. Clem Jeffrey. Together we wished the birthday folks many happy returns. : The following day Freedom Fashions set up shop and sold many of their items. Their clothes are geared for the elderly and handicapped. Also a few ladies baked some butter tarts. Throughout the afternoon on Thursday many worked con- tinuously on a variety of different crafts. Friday September 29 there was a challenging quiz and the Cocktail Hour immediately followed. Birthday wishes are extended to Mrs. Norma Jeffrey (3), Mrs. Mona Mero (5), Mrs. Pearl Brethour (8) and Mrs. Betty Ter- rett (9). A warm welcome to Mrs. Elsie Timlin who comes to us from the neighbouring Villa. We also welcome Mrs. Wanda Durham who has resided in the Port Perry area for quite some time. Unfortunately we have had a few of our dear friends pass on. Our sympathy to the families and friends of Mrs. Greta St. John, Mrs. Eveline Flieler and Mr. Cecil Phillips. Upcoming events in October are Applefest (7), Historical Tour of Port Perry (11), Supper Club - Thanksgiving Dinner (12) and Harvest Party - 1 p.m. (17). Ww.
