lB > | a TTT adc Said San "Ye PORT PERKY SPAR'L Tutdday, Avast 397 F6b Over 200 cyclists spend day on Lake On Sunday August 20, six intrepid members of the Port Perry Cycle Club took on the challenging Scugog Circle Cen- tury Tour. Approximately 200 cyclists from al the lling 101 mile course which circles widely around Lake Scugog. The outward leg of this dif- ficult run started at Durham College. Riders continued north along Thorntoh, turned onto Old Simcoe Street, passing through Prince Albert and Port Perry. The cyclists then proceed- ed through Little Britain and Lindsay. Turning south, they met a strong prevailing wind. The local cyclists stopped at Omemee where they were over Ontario joined in ~ Scugog circle tour much heeded moral support. Remounting, the up continued south to Bethany, west up the punishing hills be- tween Ponypool and Enniskil- len, Hampton and Solina. To the great relief of the Port Perry club, the course end- ed back at Durham College. Club members deserve congrat- ulations for completing this ex- tremely challenging ride in six hours, 23 minutes at an aver- age speed of 15.7 mph. In its' sixth year, the Oshawa Cycling Club per- formed a fine job of organizing and hosting the event. Club Captain, Jim Willis, is looking forward to participating in a ride around Lake Simcoe in September, and around Rice - Lake in October.
