In a rain delayed final for the Pee Wee Boys' Championship, Standard Electric solidly beat Seagrave by the score of 17 to 3. Neil Mueller was the winning pitcher for Standard Electric, striking out five batters while Lindsay Parry providing the of- fense with two homeruns and two doubles driving in six runs. Paul Linton was the most versatile player of the game, playing near- ly Syery position in the field very well. For Seagrave, Lloyd made 4d - couple of good catches in centre field while Ryan Ridgeway pro- vided good defense as catcher and Kevin Vale connected for a triple. In the semi-finals, Pineridge sports met Seagrave who was able to put it all together in this game, after losing their two mor- ning games, to beat Pineridge Sports by the score of 13 to 6. Mike Williams was the winning pitcher for Seagrave striking out seven batters while Adam . McTaggart and Russel Gascoyne each went 2 for 2 at the plate and scored each time. For Pineridge Sports, Jody Churchill hit a grand slam homerun while Chad Garvock went three for three at the plate and connected for two doubles. In the other semi-final game, Kenutcky Fried Chicken met Standard Electric, who took the lead in the first inning and went on to beat Kentucky Fried Chicken by the score of 9 to 4. Aaron Tiessen, David Bengel and Ricky Olaisen provided the offense that Standard Electric needed to win this game. Aaron hit two doubles while Ricky con- nected for a couple of good hits and David hit a double and caught a high fly ball in right field. For Kentucky Fried Chicken, Jeremy Norton connected for a good hit and made several good defensive plays while James Paterson played well as catcher, cutting down the number of bases stolen. After round robin play, Pineridge Sports and Kentucky Fried Chicken were tied for first place with three wins each. Pineridge was awarded first place because they beat Kentucky Fried Chicken two games out of three in regular season play. Pineridge Sports beat Standard Electric by the score of 11 to 10, X L Eagles by the score of 13 to 13 and Cowboy Bobs by the score of 11 to 2. In Pineridge and Stan- dards' game, Chad Garvock went four for four at the plate and he scored the winning run for Pineridge Sports while Jason Kane went four for four at the plate, scoring two runs and played a strong game at short stop. For Standard Electric, Rob Romano hit a homerun and played well at second base while Brent Harper connected for a cou- ple of good hits-and made a dou- * ble play. In the X L Eagles' game, Dan- ny Brown and Ritchie Tripp went three for three at the plate scor- ing two and three times each while Ritchie pitched three strong innings for Pineridge Sports. For X L Eagles, Ryan Williams went four for four at the plate scoring four times and Sean Gawley and Kent Taylor each went four for four at the plate, scoring two runs each. In the Cowboy Bobs win, Pineridge Sport's Stephen McFarlane went four for four at the plate and made three fine plays at third base, while Chad Garvock connected for two doubles and two singles and played well behind the plate. For Cowboy Bobs, Kevin Pearce caught a line drive and pitched two good innings while Mike Mit- chell connected for a triple and - made a couple of good plays at first base. Kentucky Fried Chicken beat XL Eagles by the score of 11 to 10, Cowboy Bobs by the score of 14 to 8 and Seagrave. In the Cowboy Bobs game, Kentucky Fried Chickens' Gary Norton pitched four strong innings, allowing on- ly two runs and connected for three home runs driving in eight runs while Ian McClelland went three for three at the plate and made some good defensive plays at first base. For Cowboy Bobs, Dwayne - Vanderligt caught a high fly ball in left field while Jake Waznicky went four for four at the plate scoring two runs and Brad Richardson made several good pickups at short stop. Standard Electric won two games beating Seagrave by the score of 8 to 3 and X L Eagles by the score of 16 to 6 to earn third Port nips Uxbridge undefeated streak It was pouring rain at kick off time Tuesday August 15, as Port Perry's Emmerson Insurance squared off with Pee Wee Soccer League Leaders Uxbridge Shell. The Emmerson team has been playing short handed most of the summer but was able to field a full complement with 2 spares. The game got off to a good start with Brad Strichert putting one by the Uxbridge goalie on a steal. Uxbridge tied it up but Nathan Short gave Port the lead when he took a great centering pass from Sara Cosway and punched one in. Uxbridge Shell put on the ressure and tied it up near the alf way mark. With the wind at their backs, Emmerson Insurance took con- trol of the second half. Michael Williams booted one in on a high kick in front of the net followed by Mark Cosway's goal on a drive for "the net. Josh Brahman played well all night and his determina- tion paid off when he popped Ports 5th goal in. Team effort is important in soccer and Mari Farguarson and Jonathan Puter- "borough played well at midfield. Christina Clark held the line defensively breaking up several rushes. Brett Lawson played a great game in net. He stopped Uxbridge Shells ground shots with cool con- fidence and made some really long goal kicks. Uxbridge scored on a penalty kick which Brett nearly fouled and they were able to be credited one more on a defensive error. Michael Williams scored goal six on a long kick from the half mark. Uxbridge made a charge for the goal from the kick off but Ryan Williams made a suicide tackle to break up the play. For the last quarter the ball was seldom out of Port Perry's control. Mark Cosway drove one in the net and with seconds to go Jeff Fletcher put the icing on the cake to give Emmerson In- surance the well earned victory. This win for Port Perry ruined Uxbridge Shells unbeaten record and ined their domination of the league. This victory was really sweet! Oh yal place in round robin play. In the Seagrave game, Standard Elec- tric's Louis Whitfield was the win- ning pitcher striking out five bat- ters while Lindsay Parry played well defensively as catcher. Bran- don Puckerin and Jeremy Williams played well for Seagrave each connecting for a hit and making some good defen- sive plays. In the X L game, Standards' Chris Jellicoe was the winning pit- cher and connected for a couple of good hits while Brad Lemieux made good fielding plays at first and had a couple of good hits. For X L Eagles, Wade Sheedy pitch- ed for a couple of innings while Vd LAA pede ) | Andrew Pereman made a couple of good catches in centre field and Chris Murdock and Dale Brad- barry connected for a hit each. Seagrave beat Cowboy Bobs bv the score of 19 to 10 to clinch the final place for the semi-finals.
