The Flowers Section has 42 classes ranging from cut flowers, potted plants and arrangements. One special in this Section is a "Thanksgiving Mantle Piece." Domestic Science Section - Does Mom bake the "best' peach pie. If so, encourage her to enter the Peach Pie Special, sponsored by Fleishmann's. First prize is $30.00, second is $25.00 and third is $20.00. Other classes in this Sec- tion include cakes, pies, tarts, breads, cookies and candy. Domestic Science also has 2 classes for men - Chocolate Chip Cookies and Chocolate Layer Cake. The Canning Section has classes for Canned Fruit, Jams, Jellies, Relish and Pickles. Prior to the Open House fifty- eight members of the immediate family sat down to a buffet luncheon. Elmer and Beatrice were mar- ried in Oshawa on September 16, 1939. Beatrice was the former Beatrice Frisby of Victoria Square (Unionville). Elmer and Bea first lived in various .com- munities in York Region before coming to the Region of Durham in 1953, and now reside in the Village of Sonya.
