28 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, August 9. 1989 - Causeway Esso w fentor Division Only one game in the senior division was played last week. The game where Blackstock Country Hardware vs Blackstock Lions will be rescheduled. Hurrah!!! Finally Causeway Esso got their first win of the season. They defeated Cummings Backhoe with a final score of 20 to 16. Homeruns for Causeway Esso came from Craig Rowntree, Kevin Goble and the first one of the season for Tanya Mappin. Doubles were hit by Kevin Go- ble and John Ralston who also managed a double play. Super singles came from Dana Lee, An- dy Wilson and Louise Shaddock. Great catching and pitching was seen by John Ralston, Michelle Dean, Tanya Mappin and Andy Wilson. Although Causeway Esso was down 8 players to Cummings 11 the kids played an outstanding game, the best yet. Intermediate Division Maltheb Farms over Turners Green Giants with a final score of 13 to 6. Homeruns for Matheb Farms came from Jason Andrews and a grande slam by Jeremy Malcolm. A triple was hit by Mike Corison with doubles from Missy Renes, Peter Bostelman and Erik Vetter. Singles were outstanding from Scott Nesbitt, Jason Andrews and Luke Carnaghan. Terrific cat- ching was seen by Ronald Kelly and Jeremy Malcolm along with a terrific play and pitching by Nicole Espie. For Turners there were no homeruns to be had but a triple was hit by Jim Chapman along with doubles from Leanne Goslin and Mike Leeming with two Super singles came from Blain Pelrine, Derek Leeming, Aman- da Locke, Jim Chapman, Rebec- ca Lynne Marple, John Ford, Mike Leeming and Leanne Goslin. Good plays were seen by Blaine Pelrine, Leanne Goslin, Matt Bradburn, Jeremy Michel, John Ford and Rebecca Lynne Marple. Terrific efforts came from Matt Bradburn, Amanda Locke and Jeremy Michel. Outstanding cat- ching and pitching was seen throughout the game. Blackstock Lioness over Port Perry Kinsmen with a final score of 14to 7. Homeruns were hit by Scott Swain, Brad Vokins and Dustin Marnock for the Lioness. A triple was hit by Scott Swain along with a double by Lloyd Shaddock and singles from Brad Vokins, Bren- nan Malcolm and Melissa Donnel- ly. Outstanding catches and plays came from Scott Swain, Lloyd Shaddock, Dustin Marnock and Melissa Donnelly with two. Super pitching was seen by Brad Vokins, Dustin Marnock and Lloyd Shaddock. The Kinsmen had a single homerun by Kingsley Malcolm along with triples from Ryan Copithorn and Johnathan McCourt with two. A double was hit by Joshua Malcolm. Outstan- ding catching was seen by Johnathan McCourt. Asselstines Yamaha over Lishmans with a final score of 17 to 10. Asselstines homeruns came from Adam Wannacott, Scott Go- ble and Kevin Gilbank along with doubles by Ryan Peter and Jeff Balser. Great efforts were made by Chris Parsons and Lori Boyce along with outstanding pitching from Scott Goble, Adam Wan- nacott and Danny Flynn. Junior Division Swain Seed Sluggers over Don Frew & Sons with final score of 9 to 7. A single homerun was hit by Derek Campbell for the Sluggers along with a triple by Shane Savage and a double by Jesse Gould. Outstanding plays were seen by Shane Savage, Lloyd Jessup and Derek Campbell. Don Frew & Sons homeruns were hit by Trevor Marnock and Richard Frew along with triples by the same two fellows. Darryll McClur* hit two doubles with singles coming from Brian DeTombe and two a piece for Amanda Richmond and Kyle McClurg. Good catching and pit- ching was seen by Kyle McClurg, Trevor Marnock and Darryll McClurg. H & M Wright Sox vs Superspus with a final score of 9 all. A grande slam was hit by Michael Versage for the Sox along with triples by Ben Stephenson and Andrew Flynn. Doubles came from Ben Stephenson, Michael Versage and Danny Lyons. Super singles were hit by Pam Goble, Michael Versage and Jada ~ MacLeod with two. 'Nonquon Travellers lose 1-0 to Uxbridge team by Lee Wilbur On Monday Aug. 7th, the Non- quon Travellers went to Uxbridge to Face River Valley Restaurant for the 1st game of the 0.A.S.A. playoffs. The Travellers came home empty handed, losing 1-0, after an excellent pitching job by Tim Thompson, who had a 1 hitter. The Travellers could only scatter 3 hits off Uxbridge starter Darryl Norton, Dave Roulston, Greg Warriner and Lee Wilbur col- lected the hits. On the long weekend the Travellers played in the annual Port Perry Fastball Tournament, hosted by X L Eagles. The Travellers 1st game, they played Diamond Towing from Toronto and came out short stiff- ed 7-1. The 2nd game the Travellers played Bayley's from Pickering and won 4-1. Newcomer Mike Clark pitched an excellent game for the Travellers, collec- ting 12 strike-outs. This put the Travellers in quarter-final action against Agin- court, the Travellers never got off the launching pad, losing by a couple of touchdowns. The Travellers next game is Tuesday Aug. 8 against Uxbridge River Valley for the 2nd game of the 0.A.S.A. playoffs, the winner of the best 2 of 3 series will play the X L Eagles. The Travellers next regular home game is Thurs- day Aug. 17 at 8:30 p.m.. Come out and support the Travellers Fastball Club. Peewee houseleague (From page 27) and Jason Reid connected for one hit each. At the South Diamond, Seagrave beat X L Eagles by the score of 15 to 12. Mike Williams hit two home runs and a single driving in four runs while Russel Gascoyne hit a triple and made a nice catch in field. David Bourgeois played well in center field and connected for a couple of good hits for X L Eagles while Kent Taylor scored four runs.
