Since starting in 1982 the School has grown to the point, where, it now offers in- tournament lay will go on all day on Saturday, August 12. Presently, more than 20 young people have registered for the Tournament, already an increase in participation over last year's numbers. Sign up deadline is by six P.M. Thursday, August 10. Mr. Neill has continued coaching students in a twice-a- week morning camp in order to help them keep their skills sharp and to provide them with extra playing time and a few pointers. The session begins with a warm up which involves prac- ticing specific strokes, but it rapidly goes into actual play . This type of camp has been go- ing on for the last few years, as an extension, or supplement for the serious tennis students. All of the junior players who have been coming out to work with Jay on Tuesday and Thursday will be taking part in the Tournament this weekend. PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, August 9, 1989 -- 27 Lindsay Parry hits grand slam homerun for Standard Electric On July 24, 1989, Standard Elec- tric beat Cowboy Bobs by the score of 16 to 10 at the South Diamond. For Standard Electric, Paul Linton and Rick Olaisen each hit a two-run homerun while Lindsay Parry connected for a grand slam homerun. Brad Lemieux made a couple of good catches while Brent Harper and Rob Romano made some good plays at short and second including a double play. Darren Hope, Joe Broadworth and Kevin Pearce each connected for a couple of good hits while Jake Waznicky and Brad Richardson made some good defensive plays at short and se- cond base. Joe Broadworth caught a hard hit ball to center field. On July 31, 1989, Pineridge Sports beat Cowboy Bobs by the score of 15 to 10. Jason Kane and Richie Tripp each had a good night at the plate, hitting two doubles and earning six RBIs each for Pineridge.
