| i ------ Woman charged impaired An Oshawa woman found last week that the long arm of the law can strike from just about anywhere. Early Saturday evening, Durham Police Constable Lorne Annis was a passenger in a Port Perry ambulance return- ing from Oshawa where he had assisted the crew on a trip to the General Hospital. According to Police when a car allegedly cut the ambulance off on Durham Rd. 2, the ambu- lance driver pursued the vehicle and motioned for the driver to pullover. When the car did pull over, Constable Annis jumped from the back of the ambulance and arrested Lisa Howell, 23. She has been charged with impaired driving and over .08. Mother charged Durham Region Police have charged a 26 year old wom- an in connection with the death of her 18 month old daughter. According to a statement released by Police, an 18 month old baby girl was taken into Oshawa General Hospital on June 27, and then rushed to Sick Chidrens in Toronto where she was placed on life support systems. - Three days later, the baby was pronounced dead in hospi- tal, and the cause of death was dehydration. t : On Saturday, July 8, Dur- ham Police arrested and charged the child's mother Vivi- an Jerilynn McBain of Guelph with criminal negligence caus- ing death. Senior citizen injured An elderly Scarborough " woman suffered injuries to her face and leg when she tripped and fell while walking along the Port Perry waterfront. Regional Police report that 89-year old Edith Davies was walking with her daughter along the concrete slabs in front of the Latcham Centre Sunday afternoon. She was first taken to Port Perry Hospital by ambulance and later transferred to Scarbo- rough General. She apparently tripped on the un-even concrete and land- ed on her face. Major damage Vandals caused nearly $6,000 damage to an inflatible blimp on the roof of the Cango Gas Barin Scugog recently. According to police, van- dals scaled the roof of the build- ing and also damaged an air pump used to keep the blimp in - the air.
