He was elected to the one year term at the Association's annual conference held last week in Thunder Bay. Durham's deputy chief Tre- vor McCagherty was named a vice president of the Associa- tions training committee, which provides Ontario police forces with advice on training proce- dures. Edwards election to head this Chiefs Association marks the second time a Durham Re- gion Chiefhas held this post. Jon Jenkins, who retired last year from the Durham force, served as president of the Association in 1976. Also at the conference last week, the Chiefs Association voted against a recommenda- tions from a provincial task force on the police and race rela- tions. The Association rejected a recommendation that members of visible minority groups be placed directly in the mid ranks of police forces and be granted accelerated promotion. The Association feels these recommendations need to be studied further before they are implemented. -- BLACKSTOCK -- TRACTOR & TRUCK PULL BLACKSTOCK FAIRGROUNDS JULY 7th & 8th -- 7 PM Sharp FRIDAY, JULY 7th: * Modified 2 Wheel Trucks * Modified Tractors * 4X4 Stock Trucks * Open Class * Stock Tractors 7,500 Ibs. * Non-Circuit Tractors 8,000 and 11,000 Ib. * Highway Tractors SATURDAY, JULY 8th: * Modified 4 X 4's * Pro-stock Tractors 5,500, 7,000, 10,000, 12,500, 15,000 12,000 & 13,000 Ib. & 18,000 Ib.
