This is the 12th annual Pio- neer Days Festival staged by the Museum and over the years, residents and visitors to Scugog have marvelled at the attrac- tions and demonstrations. Pioneer Days Committee chairman Carol Fagel says there will be displays, demon- strations, contests for the chil- dren, soap-making, o}d- fashioned ice cream, spinning, weaving, sheep-shearing and blacksmithing. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 27, 1989 -- § Nearly 300 volunteers will be working this weekend, many of them wearing the period cos- tumes of the pioneer days. And along with all the spe- cial events and demonstrations, the Scugog Museum itself is a wonde attraction with its authentic pioneer log house - that is just like stepping into the 19th century. There is also a harness shop, printing shop, the Metho- dist Church and all kinds of in- & PioneerDays on weekend teresting displays in the old school house that serves as the main Museum building. The Seugog Shores Mu- seum is located just a short drive from Port Perry on Scugog Island, half a mile north of Highway 7A. Why not celebrate Cana- da's birthday this weekend by taking a step or two back in time at Pioneer Days. There will be something of interest for the entire family. Car stolen and recovered Sometime overnight, June 24/256, a 1989 Ford four door car was stolen from a Bigelow St. driveway in Port Perry. Early in the morning of the 26th, Durham Regional Police in the Oshawa area spotted the car heading eastbound on the 10th Concession, Oshawa. The car then turned south on the boundary road and pulled into a driveway. Police entered the driveway and the two male occupants in the stolen car got out and took: off. Although the police took chase, the suspects were not captured. The car was badly scratched and an AM/FM stereo cassette deck was stolen.
