Ken Harman to 'return as coach next season Banquet-awards night for MoJacks The 1988-89 hockey season drew officially to a close Satur- day night for the Port Perry Mo- Jacks as players, executive and fans enjoyed the annual awards banquet at the Legion Hall. It was an evening to relax, look back over the last season and look ahead to training camp which will open this September. The highlight of the eve- ning was the presentation of the six individual awards as select- ed by the players themselves. Goaltender Jeff Lynch, who had some brilliant games The Vaughan McKee Memorial trophy for hard work and dedication went to Bill Lawrenson. Forward Jeff Fitchett was named the best team player for his all round work and penalty killing. He was presented with the Ballard and carnegie tro- phy. : The Vaughan McKee Me- morial award for dedication and hard work went to forward Bill Lawrenson. This was a most popular choice as Lawrenson al- ways gave it 110 per cent on eve- ry shift. The award is in memo- ry of Vaughan McKee, an outstanding athlete who was a member of the MoJacks. He was killed in a car accident several years ago. Rookie of the year award (the Baldwin Sales trophy) went to Brad Menzies. He was a member of the MoJacks top scoring line along with John Harman and Warren Geer. The Watts Family trophy for the player showing most im- provement over the season went to defenseman Paul Bar- ry,adeservingrecipient. And the Sportsland trophy for the best defensive player went to Chris Arsenault who had a fine year along the blue line for the ModJacks.
