- A wonderful day for quilt display Prince Albert and Area News by Peggy Bredin Saturday turned out truely a beautiful day for the UCW Treasured Quilt Show. About 200 people attended and enjoyed look- ing at 40 quilts. Several things of interest included two quilts made by Florence Smith, one being her first one made 62 years ago and one just finished this spring at the age of 85. There were some very - old quilts and others of modern times. Linda McMillan and her executive would like to thank all those who helped by supplying food or labour. A special thanks to everyone who attended, for without you it would not have been such a success. Mary Lynne and Al Murphy had her brother and his friend for weekend guests. They enjoyed the Murphy's yard sale. Mary Lynne and Al were also taking Al's mom Merle out for dinner as a Mother's Day treat. There will be a Stewards and Session meeting May 17th at Church at 7:30. Those persons in- volved please make a point of be- ing out. Please wish Linda McMillan a happy birthday if you see her on May 15. Also Sue Duncan and Lila Clarke have birthdays on May 16. Above, they point out a quilt now owned by Fran Herder of Port Perry. The front is pretty enough, but it's the back of this piece that is really Interesting. "Ald to Britain" cloth adorns the back, which was made by Mayor Howard Hall's grandmother, Sarah lre- land Spence.
