A wedding reception was held in the Hall on Saturday evening to honor the recent marriage of Eric & Carla (Mitchell) Meester. Many friends & relatives turned ont to offer them best wishes. On Saturday afternoon a fire threatened the bush at the north end of Utica Heights Subd. and the arrival of the Fire Depart- ment was a welcome sight for Richard & Ann Marie Askew who with the help of Linda Powell fought the blaze as best they could. There was little help from the neighbours as they were unaware of any trouble until the trucks arrived. Does anyone remember years ago when anyone needed help, they just cranked up the old party line telephone, help was there in no time flat. I wouldn't want to go back to the old phones for many reasons but that system worked for emergencies. So much for a little bit of nostalgia. The Skelding family were Sun- day dinner guests with Jack's mother Mrs. Elizabeth Skelding at Newcastle. That's all for this week, call your news in before Monday mor- ning to 985-7564.
