Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Nestleton Women's Institute Annual Meeting Mrs. Neta Fish was the gracious hostess for the April meeting of Nestleton Women's In- stitute, Wednesday, April 5 at 1:30 p.m. Several visitors were in at- tendance...and some members who had been on vacation in Flor- dia were welcomed back. Follow- ing the Ode and Collect, the presi- dent read a poem "Spring." Rika Wygerde read a report of the March District Executive meeting held at the home of Mrs. Vi Ashton, Solina, and some plan- ning of menu and other details for the May 18 District Annual meeting were discussed. Minutes of the March meeting were read by secretary Gwen Malcolm...and treasurer Rika Wygerde's report of finances ac- cepted. Roll Call: "Bring an item for the Tweedsmuir History Book' resulted in some material for the Curator. Members paid their fees for 1989/90. A get well card was signed for Fred Dayes. The life story of "Laura Rose Stephen" ...the first lecturer and organizer for Women's In- stitutes groups...born in 1866...organized the Nestleton Women's Institute in 1906, was read by Norma Frew...and also a letter to Miss Ethel Thompson written in 1955. This will be in- cluded in the current Tweedsmuir Book. . Annual Meeting Immediately following the regular meeting...the Annual meeting was opened with the reading of last April's Annual Meeting. Batteries," will be available. She also said..make meetings in- teresting...have fun..and new members will be attracted! Bertha McLaughlin read the slate of Officers as prepared by the Nominating Committee...and Mrs. Ashton installed the Officers for 1989-90. A short sing song, and the odd humorous joke closed the meeting. Lunch was in charge of Irene McKee and group, assisted by the hostess. Bertha Mc. ex- presses the appreciation to Neta Fish, and all who had contributed to the meeting. Caesarea Euchre James Emerton held the high score with 84, on Wed. evening at the Caesarea Hall. Faith Lawrence came in second with 81. Dorothy Wall held a 55. Kathleen Watts made the tasty lunch! Next week as usual -8 p.m. at the hall! A lively chorus selection was led by Harry & Erika Kiezebrink with the congregation joining in. Scrip- ture reading Luke 10: I-II & 17-20 was read by Rev. Dr. W.-H. Crawford. Offering received by John Doucette. The splendid ser- mon on "Divine Authority' was given by Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford. Holy Communion was observed. Assisting Harry Kiezebrink in the Christian sacrament was Frank Arney with Kathleen Watts play- ing softly throughout. The service closed with Benediction. _ Rev. W.H. Crawford...of Caesarea Community Church has been away from this area many times to the U.S.A. over this past nine months. He has been ministering to some five or six churches in Penn- sylvania, U.S.A. doing Sunday services, A.M. & P.M. also weeknight services. In the past five months his ministry has been in the nature of Preaching the Old Time Gospel and praying with the sick that they might receive Divine Heal- ing. A number of testimonies of how God has blessed: Terminal BUSINESS DIRECTORY CONTRACTORS & CARPENTERS cancer cases, Parkinsons disease, Multiple S. (M.S.) and Blindness, are some of the testimonies peo- ple have of God's Blessing. He would value the Prayers of God's people at this time. Social Notes The Sam Cawkers of Scugog Point Rd., attended the "party"' held for Grace Hastings held in Town Hall 1873, with a fine number of relatives and friends on hand to honour Grace...who has given many pleasurable years to the public with her music...and enjoying it immensely! The committee planned the event well. With Irwin Gibson the capable M.C. a fine hour of music...and a time of reminiscing by Grace, topped off with a delec- table lunch and beverage, made for a delightful evening! A lovely cake inscribed with "Amazing Grace" centred the table...made by one of the committee. She was the recipient of many cards...a lovely gift...and many bouquets of flowers by friends and associates. A night for her to remember! Birthday Celebration Cliff Davis, Hyde House, Scugog Pt.
