These days, donors are treated to coffee, juice and cookies. Paul has been giving blood ever since. When he gave for the 50th time, he received a certifi- cate of appreciation from the Governor-General. Two years ago, he was featured on CFTO- TV's Heartbeat, a segment of the local news broadcast. He's proud to have given blood so many times, and he can't understand why people arereluctant to do so. "It doesn't hurt a bit. As a matter of fact, I always feel bet- ter afterwards," he says. "This is something I can do for man- kind and it doesn't cost me a cent." And he'd love to donate 100 times, but he jokes, "I don't think Il live thatlong!" On a different note, Paul was honoured recently by the people of South Korea with an Ambas- sador For Peace medal and cer- tificate. He received the surprise award March 11 at adinner and dance at the Canadian Corp building in Oshawa. The medal was presented by the National President of Korea Veterans on behalf of the people of South Ko- rea. . 3 The honour was bestowed upon Paul for all his work for the Korea Veterans. He has been responsible for dedicating several cenotaphs, as well as raising the consciousness of people about the Korean War and its vets. "I was surprised and I was pretty happy," he says with a grin. "I've worked pretty hard." SKIP TO IT! The New Skipping Book by Susan Kalbfleisch, illustrated by Laurie McGugan.
