PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, March 7, 1989 -- 13 U.C.W. is collecting Canadian Tire $'s Greenbank and Area News Church and Sunday School at the usual time next Sunday. The evening unit of the U.C.W. is col- lecting Canadian Tire money to - give to Camp Quin-Mo-Lac to pur- chase new camping equipment. There is a box for contributions. The Sunday School has a fund for accumulating donations which are used for the Operation Scugog Christmas hamper and foodbank programs. Greenbank ladies joined Seagrave ladies for the World Day of Prayer Service last Fri- day. They report a good attendance. Sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hooker and family on the death of her sister Mrs. Ellis last week and also to the family of John King who also passed away recently. The Kings lived at number 64 south of the corner a number of years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Almer Rennie were renewing acquaintances with friends one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Cookman have returned from an enjoyable ten week tour of New Zealand and Australia. Their daughter Cathy who tourned for a month with them remained in Sarisia, Quunsland for one year on teacher exchange. Mr. and Mrs. Armour McMillan enjoyed a dinner and evening with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hunter & fami- ly and recalled some of the past history of Windy Brae Farm. Darlene Gibson and .Winnie Tobin spent last week holidaying in Las Vegas. On Tuesday, February 21, the Greenbank Brownies, Guides, and Pathfinders hosted 'A World Friendship Pancake Supper Fun: draiser." Many families in the community shared in this event. We were pleased to see so many friendly faces. Thanks to everyone who participated, we certainly appreciate your sup- 'port. Special thanks once again to Brenda & Lori at Myers Cash & Carry Bulk Food for their assistance. On Tuesday, February 28 our Brownies skated away the even- ing on the Fletchers rink. Thanks to Jim and Patty for letting our Graduate girls have a fun time and allow- ing them the chance to be tested for their skaters badge. Hot chocolate was served after at the hall. We are pleased to report Ray Meisner has returned home from London University Hospital after successfully undergoing heart surgery. We wish him a speedy recovery. His mother spent last week in London with him and Agnus joined them for a weekend. On Saturday, March 4 the "Blow Away the Winter Blues Dance" was a tremendous suc- cess. The First Aid decorations added a finishing touch and with the help of "A Doctor-On-Call" many patients were taken care of. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the Port Perry Community Hospital Building Fund.
