This is their first child! Proud grandparents are Arnold & Jean Williams of Nestleton. Our warmest congratulations! Caesarea Euchre Results A smaller attendance than usual due to inclement weather conditions. Those to congratulate are: First - Jim Emerton - 76. Se- cond - Sharon Gooding - 75. Low - Albert Watt - 63. A tasty lunch was made by Kathy Tromans. Next Wed. for an evening of in- terest followed by a good lunch. Try to be there! The Churches Mr. David Faulkner conducted the morning service at 11 a.m. in the Nestleton Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Joyce Taylor was the capable organist. Psalm 150 was read responsive- ly and Scripture was 1 Kings 19: 1-16. Mr. Faulkner spoke on "Discipline" and how our lives are governed by God's will for us. The World Day of Prayer was announced for Friday, March 3rd, at 2 p.m. in the Nestleton Com- munity Centre...hosted by the Catholic Women's League. The theme, "Lord Teach Us To Pray". Everyone welcome. Caesarea Community Church had a smaller attendance than usual on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. due to so much sickness. Harry Kiezebrink opened the meaningful service and Rev. Dr. Crawford spoke on "Commu- nion"... what it means... based on 1 Corinthians 11:26. Klaas Stek read the first passage of Scripture and Brenda Doucette read the se- cond one. Rev. Dr. Crawford took the responsive reading. Holy Communion was observ- ed. Assisting the Minister were Bill Ingram and John Doucette Harry Kiezebrink will present the message next Sunday at the Caesarea Community Church... so do try and attend for a wor- thwhile message! At Nestleton United Church, the first Sunday in Lent, Ralph Sadler was the friendly greeter at the door. Usher was Chuck Hill. In- tern Minister Norman Seli brought an excellent message to the congregation, and illustrated story was of interest to the Sun- day School children, about Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Obituary William George Stearman The funeral service was held on Thursday, January 19, 1989 at 2 p.m. for William George Stear- man at Low and Low Chapel con- ducted by Rev. Daniel Yourkevich assisted by Mr. Gard- ner Ward both from Trinity United Church, Uxbridge. Mr. Stearman died on Monday, January 16 in Port Perry Hospital in his 97th year. William George was born September 22, 1892 in Reepham, Norfolk, England son of the late Arthur Robert Stearman and Sophia Thaxter. The family came to Canada'in 1902 and he has spent his life in the Uxbridge area. On February 9, 1921 he married Annie Jane (Jennie) Ball of Quaker Hill and they farmed in Scott Township until moving to Uxbridge in 1960,. 4 LITINITY, FRPP HY. He enjoyed ten more years of retirement after moving to Port Perry Villa in October 1977. Prior to his death he had spent just over a year in the Port Perry Nursing Home. Will is survived by his wife, Jennie, of Port Perry Nursing Home and his sons Arnold of Ed- monton and Cloyne of Uxbridge and his daughters Wilda (Mrs. Carl Myers) of Oshawa and Elva (Mrs. Walter Kerry) of Port Perry as well as 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Will was predeceased by sisters Gertie (Mrs. Norman Warren), Hilda (Mrs. Clinton Keach), Florence (Mrs. Ben Welsh), and Miss Violet Stearman, and May (Mrs. Frank Brown). The spring interment will be at Foster Memorial Cemetery. The family enjoy memories of the many years and the happy oc- casions they were altogether with one they were proud to call "Dad and Grandad." In the choir a Ladies quartet composed of Kathy Tromans, Shirley Jackson, Kay Notman, and Janice MacKenzie sang the old favourite *'In the Garden' by C. Austin Miles, with Carol Mairs at the piano. Chuck & Carol Hill received the offering. Next Sunday for a fine Service at 11.15 a.m. Hope the weather remains more stable, for a bigger attendance at the ser- vice! We're having real March weather down in this neck of the woods! Welcome Home! A warm welcome home to a good friend we've missed very much, Neta Fish of Blackstock, who has been in Western Canada, Carnduff, Sask., for a two week period, holidaying with her Aunt Jane Boyes and cousin Connor Boyes. The Sam Cawkers were Lun- chieon guests with friends Armour and Rachael McMillan on Mon- day, Feb. 6th, at the Gate Restaurant in Port Perry. It was a pleasure to join with them and have... besides a good lunch... a friendly time of reminiscing! Sam and Mabel Cawker, Scugog Pt. Rd., attended a delightful birthday celebration for son Grant Cawker of Oshawa on Friday evening, Feb. 3rd. Wife Merna and daughter Cathy plann- ed a delicious dinner in honour of the occasion. This was topped off with an elegant birthday cake, and many lovely, useful gifts. Other folks attending were fami- ly members - Chris, Curtis and Christine of Oshawa. A rousing Happy Birthday was sung by all! Our very best to Grant for a good year ahead! Son Alan and Eleanor Cawker of Oshawa, were Sunday, Feb. 5th, luncheon guests at the Cawker farmstead, Scugog Pt. Rd., and a time of sociability was enjoyed! Not much social news of late. Folks are either sick, away, or in the doldrums at present. We trust the flu will pass soon, and the Meningitis outbreak as well. Lisa Nesbitt of Nestleton is now home and improving each day, we are so happy to say! Keep chins high folks, the road looks rough ahead, but remember it smooths with the travelling thereon!
