TREE SERVICE UXBRIDGE FOREST GARDENS LTD. . * Tree Pruning or Removal * Fully Insured * Bucket Truck & Brush Chi * Stump Removal " poor as52-7087 Nursing home by Wendy Clark January went out with a bang. It's been a great month for us here at the nursing home. Mon- day January 23 many ladies were kept busy baking several pans of apple crisp while others watched a special video tape. A special lunch outing was on Tuesday. A fairly large group went to Conway Gardens for a delicious lunch. Upon returning home everyone joined in for a sing-song. In the evening a church service was given by the Port Perry United Church. The following day was a Quiz and discussion group. Thurs- y afternoon was spent busily preparing for the Supper Club which took place over the supper hour. This particular activity in- volves the residents preparing their own meal, setting their din- ing tables up, meal clean-up and doing their dishes. Approximate- ly 24 residents enjoyed their delicious turkey dinner. We were also very lucky to have some entertainment which was provid- ed by the 'Golden Slippers". The first week ended with a Bingo game. Also the everloving treat wagon made its rounds to each and every resident. During the afternoon of Monday January 30th, we had an exciting 'bowling match. Mr. Bill Moroz achieved the top scorer position with 110 points. There was also some decorating done throughout the home in preparation for Valentines Day. On the last day of January we had our 'Beat the Blah's Party". A large crowd en- joyed a movie while devouring delicious ice cream cones. After- wards everyone participated in a sing-song. In the evening the Port Perry Presbyterian Church pro- vided a service. Wednesday February 1st hosted the ever- popular manicures. Thursday was a craft day with many ladies painting silk scarfs while the men were busy with woodworking. To end this week was a baking ses- sion. Happy Birthday wishes are ex- I to Miss Joan Tuck on Feb. Staff members celebrating bir- thdays are Debbie Henderson and Denise Daniels. Best wishes to them. . Awarm welcome is extended to the many new residents that have come to live with us. Mrs. Eileen Stiffen comes to us from the village of Seagrave. Mr. Ray Seagar previously lived in the Oshawa area. Also we have Mr. Lavern Martyn from Port Perry. Again we are saddened by the death of several of our nursing home friends. The residents and staff would like to extend our sympathy to the families and friends of Mrs. Annie Nugent (Jan. 25), Mr. Hugh Cummings (Jan. 21) and Mrs. Dolly Ham- mersley (Jan. 29). "May God be by your side when facing this time of sorrow". Upcoming events in February include Hawaiian Day (8), Coffee Hour (9) 7 p.m., Valentines Par- ty (14) 1:30 p.m., Residents Coun- cil Meeting (15) and Hearts Day (17). Please join us in our many activities. SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Building Fund 1
