PHILP PONTIAC-BUICK -- LIMITED -- 10 Vanedward Drive, Port Perry 2865-84749 (From page 3) won the Star's contest two years ago, have moved since then, but have taken their yen for lights with them. Their home on the 8th Conces- sion of Scugog Island, is well off the road, but shines like a light- house in the dark. The entire house is outlined in lights, with a big red star on the TV antennae, Santa on the roof, Frosty in the yard, and big red | stockings hung with care on the walls. Christmas carols are piped to the outside, adding even more festivity to this already- festive scene. "It really makes you feel like a kid on Christmas Eve," judge Ca- thy Olliffe commented. The family of Fred Ford, on Old Scugog Road, Blackstock, tied with the Freemans, with a com- pletely different but equally beau- ~ tiful display. The Victorian style house is a study in simple, uncluttered beau- ty, done completely in white lights, with a huge white star in the centre of the roof. i Garland and ribbons added warmth to this pristine beauty. "Beautiful, different and creative, nice work," judge Angie Kroonen- berg wrote enthusiastically. While three homes had to be de- clared winners, many of the other entries came very, very close to winning. Five other entries came within one point of claiming an honourable mention. And not one of the entries col- lected less than seven points. If the weather is good between now and New Year's Day, pick an evening, pack the kids in the car, and take a drive around to see the incredible amount of work people have put into light decorating, all throughout the Township. Without a word of a lie, the lights are absolutely stunning. Take a drive, and see for yourself.
