Women's Institute Dinner fit for a king Epsom and Area News by Jean Jeffery The Bethesda Reach Women's Institute held a very wonderful Christmas dinner and party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Bruce. The dinner fit for a king was enjoyed by all, followed b games and gifts for all. If oh congeniality existed throughout the world, wars would surely cease. We were saddened to learn of the recent passing of Mr. Bruce's mother. Sympathy from us all. Donna Kerry and friends enjoyed The Living Christmas Tree at Peoples' Church in Toronto. This year the title was Christmas Around the World. This is a won- derful experience. Bill. Ryall of Fenelon Falls called on Donald and Stella Asl- ing on Friday. Douglas and Beth Wilson host- ed a pre-Christmas evening for many friends from the 7th conces- sion and area. Shirley Paul and Julia Baster visited Shirley's parents Jim and Clara Jones of Glen Major for Sunday supper to help Mr. Jones celebrate a birthday. The moming church service was taken by the Sunday School. It was White Gift Sunday. The choir sang a lovely anthem. They are getting better all the time. In the afternoon several from the community accompanied Rev. Nancy Waterman to present a short church service at the Com- | clothing gifts 52 WATER STREET, PORT PERRY munity Care in Uxbridge. Next Sunday we are looking forward to music from the Scugog Singers. Church will be at Utica, 11:15 a.m. The school program is at Green- bank Monday evening December 19, so the children have been practising. The teaching staff were pleased with the representatives on De- cember 5 for parent interviews. On Thursday December 15 (that is this week--how time flies) Grade 3-4 classroom will be cele- brating with a medieval feast. Staff and students will be in ap- propriate costumes for this gala event. Anyone is welcome to call. Make it about 12:15. UXBRIDGE On December 16 Christmas ca- rollers from the school will be seen in the community. Follow- ing carolling in the village, the students will return to school for a Christmas treat, then at 2:30 will board the bus for their holi- day. The staff wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanking you for your support in term one. Great things are planned for term two. The teach- ers are looking forward to serving your children in the New Year. Mrs. and Mr. A. Watson cele- brated Christmas early this year. Their three sons, their wives and families all home.
