46 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 8, 1988 14 Veterans remember Veterans and Legion members who took part in the Remembrance Day Pa- rade last Sunday in Port Perry. More than 100,000 Canadians lost their lives in the Great War, World War 2 and the Korean War. Obituary--William Carnochan William Roy Carnochan passed away at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay on Thursday, Aug. 25, 1988. He was in his 86th year. | Roy Carnochan of Bobcaygeon attended school in Port Perry and worked on neighbouring farms. He enlisted in the armed forces. Roy married his first wife, Sadie Wilson, and they farmed at the Ridges. Sadie passed away and in 1963 Roy married Ruth Elizabeth Sandison and they continued to farm for 10 more years. When poor health developed in 1973 they rE LECT sold the farm and moved to Bob- caygeon where they retired and enjoyed life together until Roy's passing. Roy Carnochan is survived by his wife Ruth, dear step-father of Marian Luke of Port Perry, Ar- thur Kight of Blackwater, Bonnie Kight of Lindsay, Murray Thomp- son of Toronto, Lois Wood of Oshawa, Doris Crossman of Oshawa and Harry Thompson of Ottawa. A funeral service was held at the Wagg Funeral Home in Port Perry on Monday, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery. Rev. A. Woolcock of- ficiated. Pallbearers were David and Gordon Carnochan, Bill and Allan Carnochan and George and James Carnochan. Flower bearers were Bill Tindale, Jim Wardel, Lawrence Carnochan and Alvin Gibbs. The many floral tributes and memorial donations were gratefully appreciated. Obitvary--James F. Hope James Fredrick Hope passed away at the Port Perry Nursing Home, Saturday, September 24, 1988 in his 88th year. He was the son of the late Frank and Jessie Hope, born in England November 2, 1900. Jim came to Canada under the care of the Salvation Army in 1914, and worked on farms in the Port Perry area. Despite the loss of one hand in a hunting accident when he was in his early twenties, Jim was always very independent and always found work. Later he began mixing plaster for Ed Weeden and worked on many homes and buildings in the Pert Perry area. Jim lived south of Prince Albert for about 25 years, then came to live with Roy and Mildred Hope in Blackstock, he became part of their family for the next eight years before he entered the Nur- sing Home where he spent the last five years of his life. A Funeral Service was held at the Wagg Funeral Home in Port Perry on September 26, 1988. Rev. Robert LePage officiated. Inter- ment Pine Grove Cemetery. The floral arrangements and memorial donations were gratefully appreciated.
